Job summary

A global consulting firm is looking for Project Controls Specialists at all levels to join their Manchester team. Candidates will work within Power, Water, Rail, and other sectors, helping manage project reporting and performance. Responsibilities include tailoring reporting processes, implementing systems, and guiding clients on performance metrics. Qualifications

  • Experience in a project or programme environment is essential.
  • Demonstrable track record in identifying reporting and data requirements.
  • Awareness of Project Controls software is desirable.
  • Experience in using data analysis tools (e.g. Power BI).

Responsibilities

  • Tailoring reporting processes to meet client needs.
  • Delivering performance and reporting management plans.
  • Implementing and maintaining reporting systems and procedures.
  • Implementing, administering, and maintaining reporting systems and procedures to track project controls performance.
  • Working with the Integrated Project Team to establish a robust PMB and support change control.
  • Roll out reporting calendars to ensure a consistent drumbeat of performance data.
  • Work with project controls to define requirements and data flows for information management systems.
  • Lead the development, analysis and maintenance of corporate datasets.
  • Provide guidance on data quality issues to various data providers.
  • Lead material preparation for governance through projects, programmes, portfolios and the enterprise.
  • Identify performance recovery recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Support the project team develop, embed KPIs and the performance measures dictionary.
  • Develop project performance reports and dashboards, providing recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Lead preparation of presentations for client governance forums and performance reviews.
  • Contribute towards national and regional performance & reporting communities.

Skills

Job Description

Our PMO Northwest team is looking to expand its Controls community. With exciting growth in region including new Major Programmes, Projects and Clients, we’re looking for flexible and mobile Planning and Scheduling / Performance Reporting / Risk Management candidates to deliver services in our local region. Travel within the Northwest region is required dependent on the project and can be discussed further during the recruitment process. You will have an excellent opportunity to work across a breadth of sectors including Power, Water, Rail, Defence, Nuclear, Local Authority, and Shipyards.

Working alongside project delivery teams as part of a wider reporting & performance management team or independently with reach back support to experienced performance & reporting professionals, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Tailoring reporting processes to meet the client’s needs and aligning with best practice.
  • Deliver to performance and reporting management plans for our clients based on project requirements, maturity, and best practice.
  • Promoting the benefits and requirements of Performance Reporting & Analytics within the project and programme team.
  • Implementing, administering, and maintaining reporting systems and procedures to track project controls performance.
  • Working with the Integrated Project Team to establish a robust, integrated, well structured, accurate Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) and support the change control process.
  • Roll out reporting calendars to ensure a consistent drumbeat of performance data and sufficient time to assure and analyse outputs.
  • Work with project controls to define requirements and data flows for information management systems and supporting our digital teams in their implementation.
  • Lead the development, analysis and maintenance of corporate datasets.
  • Provide guidance and advice on data quality issues to a wide variety of data providers.
  • Lead material preparation for governance through projects, programmes, portfolios and the enterprise.
  • Identify performance recovery recommendations for relevant stakeholders and management to support effective decision making.
  • Support the project team develop, embed KPIs and contributes to the development of the performance measures dictionary.
  • Developing project performance reports and dashboards, providing recommendations to relevant stakeholders and management to support effective decision making.
  • Lead preparation of presentations and other materials for client governance forums and performance reviews.
  • Contribute towards our national and regional performance & reporting communities including Communities of Practice.
  • Training and coaching clients and less experienced team members on performance and reporting management processes and practices.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a project or programme environment is essential.
  • An understanding of how other aspects of Project Controls (Scheduling, Cost Control, Change Control) interact with Reporting.
  • Demonstrable track record in identifying reporting and data requirements and documenting these using the appropriate types of tools and documentation.
  • Awareness of Project Controls software (Primavera P6, Active Risk Manager, Ecosys etc) is desirable.
  • Experience in using data analysis tools (e.g. Power BI).
  • An understanding of data, data architecture and data models.
