Job summary

Turner & Townsend in London is seeking a Project Controls Manager with proven rail sector experience to lead the programme controls function on a major rail project.

You will monitor plans, cost, safety, environment and performance reporting, ensuring data quality and adherence to GRIP processes, while aligning resources and delivering reliable control services to project teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience in planning and scheduling across field and home office.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Proficient with PC operating systems and basic software.
  • Familiar with Primavera (P6) and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and start-up processes.
  • Degree qualified in a construction-related subject.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain GRIP-compliant control processes at territory/project level.
  • Review proposals and develop realistic delivery plans.
  • Identify and resolve resourcing requirements with planning units.
  • Provide day-to-day reporting on plans, costs, safety, environment and performance.
  • Ensure data standards in cost and performance systems.
  • Manage Investment Plan production at territory/project level.
  • Comply with Investment Competence Framework.

Job Description

Turner & Townsend is the leading consultancy provider to the rail sector. Using our skills, processes and knowledge we provide industry leading services to our clients. We are currently looking to recruit a Project Controls Manager with proven rail sector experience to be based in our London office.

MAIN JOB PURPOSE

Delivering Project Controls across a major rail project in London, the Project Controls Manager will lead the programme controls function for a programme, monitoring for accuracy and consistency of plans, cost, safety, environment and performance reporting, and deploying available controls team resources to best effect.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Establish effective control processes in compliance with the Guide to Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) and as directed by the Programme Controller and maintain these at Territory / Project level.
  • Review new project proposals/remits, and monitor so that realistic, resourceable plans are developed for delivery of the programme.
  • Identify resourcing requirements to support the programme and liaise with the Territory Delivery Planning Unit and national resource planning functions to resolve resourcing issues.
  • Provide an efficient day-to-day service to the Programme and Project Managers in reporting on plans, costs, safety, environment and programme performance.
  • Monitor so that data input by project teams and others to cost and performance systems meet required data standards.
  • Manage the production of the Investment Plan at Territory/Project level as part of the Business Planning Process.
  • Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.
Qualifications
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Proficiency with PC operating systems, with proficiency in several basic software applications
  • Proficiency with multiple discipline specific software applications such as
  • Primavera (P6) and Microsoft Office Applications, for example
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management
  • Degree qualified in a construction related subject
