Job summary

Metlen Energy & Metals in Newcastle upon Tyne seeks a Project Controls Manager to lead the Grid & Digital Solutions team within Thermal Power & HVDC. You will define strategy, supervise planning, cost estimation, and progress reporting to Leadership.

The role requires engineering/PM background, Primavera proficiency, and strong English. PM certification and master's degree are assets. Knowledge of basic financial schemes is helpful.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Project Management required.
• Professional PM certification is a plus.
• Master’s degree in a related field is an asset.
• Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Primavera scheduling tool.
• Understanding of basic financial schemes.
• Contract-claims management qualification is an asset.
• Excellent command of English.

Responsibilities

• Defines a Project Controls strategy in collaboration with Project Planners, Cost Controllers and Project Teams.
• Supervises planning, scheduling, cost estimating and cost analysis activities, including recovery plans.
• Directs the preparation and presentation of integrated project cost and time status forecasts.
• Responsible for the development, execution and management of all facets of a Project Controls plan.
• Oversees input/output for quantitative measurement and progress tracking; prepares reports to Leadership with corrective actions.

We are currently searching for aProject Controls Manager to join your Grid & Digital Solutions department, as part of the Thermal Power & HVDC division of Metlen, based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Your role will encompass:

• Works closely with Project Planners, Cost Controllers, and Project Teams to define a Project Controls strategy.
• Supervision/review of all project planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and cost analysis activities, including impact identification and recovery plan development.
• Directs/manages the preparation and presentation of integrated project cost & time status and forecasts.
• Responsible for the development, execution, and management of all facets of a Project Controls plan.
• Overseas and manages input and output for quantitative measurement and progress tracking Prepares collective reports to Leadership, updating on project status and highlighting issues with suggested corrective actions.

What you bring to the role:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or Project Management.
• Professional certification in project management will be considered an asset.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field will be considered an asset.
• Excellent use of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel & Power Point).
• Excellent use of Primavera (MS knowledge will be considered an asset).
• Knowledge of basic financial schemes.
• Contract-claims management qualification will be considered an asset.
