Job summary

ALTEN, a global engineering and technology consultancy, seeks an experienced PMO/Project Controls Engineer to support large-scale, safety-critical programmes in the UK. You will drive planning, cost control, reporting and governance across complex engineering environments.

Key responsibilities include scheduling, cost tracking, reporting dashboards, and managing risks, issues and change control with multi-disciplinary teams. A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering (or equivalent) is required.

Qualifications

• PMO/Project Controls experience in large engineering environments.
• Proven ability to plan, forecast costs, and track budgets.
• Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Experience in regulated environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support project planning and scheduling activities.
• Maintain and track project cost, budget, and forecasts.
• Produce progress reports and performance dashboards.
• Track metrics: SPI, CPI, Earned Value.
• Manage risks, issues and change control processes.
• Collaborate with engineering, commercial and delivery teams.
• Support governance and reporting requirements.

We are looking for an experienced PMO / Project Controls Engineer to support large-scale, safety-critical programmes. The role focuses on supporting project delivery through effective planning, cost control, reporting, and governance across complex engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support project planning and scheduling activities
• Maintain and track project cost, budget, and financial forecasts
• OPEX
• Produce progress reports and performance dashboard.
• Track key metrics (SPI, CPI, Earned Value)
• Manage risks, issues, and change control processes
• Work closely with engineering, commercial, and delivery teams
• Support project governance and reporting requirements

Required Skills:

• Strong background in PMO, Project Controls, Planning, or Cost Engineering
• Proven experience working with tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar
• Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM)
• Experience within regulated environments.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience in large-scale infrastructure or complex engineering programmes
• Strong analytical and reporting skills
• Experience working with stakeholders across multi-disciplinary teams
