Role Project Commercial Manager

Reporting to the Commercial Manager of Water and working with the Business Unit Operations Director and commercial team, you will enhance project commercial outcomes, drive best practice, manage risks and change, and support project managers in commercial matters across multiple projects and Frameworks.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Directors and Lead Verifiers to manage commercial delivery and ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Apply contract and risk management knowledge to improve project performance, including contract communications, change management, programme, delay damages, key contract dates and insurances; analyse challenged projects and report findings from a commercial and financial compliance perspective.
  • Utilise contract administration platforms (e.g., CEMAR, Asite) to oversee client communications, control changes, and manage commercial risk and opportunity.
  • Participate in project reviews and commercial discussions with clients and suppliers; oversee preparation of subcontract documents to maintain a back-to-back position.
  • Mentor technical staff to heighten commercial awareness and expertise.
  • Help deliver cost efficiency by reducing disallowed costs and managing expenditures across AECOM, subcontractors, subconsultants and supply chain; contribute to Go/No-Go documents for new or major change projects.
  • Contribute to project scope understanding across Water Treatment, Wastewater, Flood Risk Management, Water Supply Systems, Hydraulic Modelling, River and Coastal Engineering, SUDS, Desalination, Water Resource Management and Irrigation Systems.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a legal, commercial or financial role within engineering or construction.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in finance, law, quantity surveying, commercial management or engineering; postgraduate business qualifications are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of contract law and infrastructure project contracts (e.g., NEC3, NEC4, government frameworks, bespoke design & build).
  • Experience in project, commercial and risk management, including client facing roles.
  • Experience communicating with clients, subcontractors and subconsultants to proactively resolve commercial performance concerns/risks.
