Job description

Be Part of the Future of Transport in Hampshire

Are you ready to take the lead in delivering transformative transport infrastructure across one of the UK’s highest-performing local authorities?

We’re looking for a focussed, collaborative Client Manager to join our ambitious and agile Capital Delivery Team. This is a client-side role where you will own and deliver transport infrastructure schemes that improve lives across Hampshire.

You will be responsible for a delivery for a diverse portfolio of transport infrastructure projects—from active travel and public realm improvements to major highway and sustainable drainage schemes.

This role requires strong commissioning and project management skills in an engineering environment to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

You’ll work closely with internal and external clients, framework partners, local councils, regulatory bodies, and communities to bring to life the priorities of Hampshire’s Local Transport Plan 4.

The role is suitable for someone who is keen to develop management skills, take on and gain experience in line management.

What you’ll do:
  • Lead and deliver capital infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee budgets, drive progress, and manage risk.
  • Ensure robust governance, approvals, and reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Solve problems, develop options, and recommend solutions.
  • Commission specialists to deliver projects.
What we’re looking for:

We’re seeking a confident project manager with:

  • A collaborative mindset with an aptitude to set a clear direction for individual projects and drive delivery.
  • A team player to work closely with Transport Planning colleagues to advance projects from feasibility to reality
  • Experience in commissioning and project management within an engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building ability.
  • Political awareness and sensitivity.
  • Educated, as a minimum to HNC (Civil Engineering) or equivalent and membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • A commitment to our values.
