Job summary

NP Aerospace, Ltd. is seeking a Project Buyer to manage time-critical procurement across engineering projects from concept to production launch. You will source fabrications, mechanical and electrical components, harnessing and precision parts to detailed specs.

The role offers a permanent, full-time onsite position with a salary of £35,000-£38,000 per year plus discretionary bonus and benefits. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams.

Qualifications

• Purchasing experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Experience supporting projects and/or New Product Introduction.
• Strong commercial, negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Strong communication and cross-functional working skills.
• Proactive, organised and solutions focused.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement activities across assigned engineering projects, from initial concept through to production launch.
• Manage requests for quotation (RFQs), evaluate suppliers, negotiate commercial terms and support supplier nomination decisions.
• Deliver component and tooling costs against project targets, balancing cost, quality, technical requirements and delivery commitments.
• Coordinate supplier readiness with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Supply Chain throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor tooling progress, samples, production capacity, lead times and quality approvals.
• Assess the commercial impact of engineering changes and manage cost implications with stakeholders.
• Drive cost reduction, value engineering and cost-avoidance opportunities to improve performance.
• Support prototype, validation and production builds and handover of suppliers and components.
