Job summary

Line Up Aviation is seeking a Project Accountant for a 12-month contract to oversee financial reporting across defence projects, supporting control, forecasting and reporting, and assisting with bid campaigns.

The role requires a qualified CIMA professional with project accounting experience, strong MS Excel skills, and a solid understanding of MoD accounting procedures. Security clearance (SC) will be pursued post-application.

Qualifications

• Qualified CIMA Accountant, or part-qualified CIMA with strong relevant experience.
• Experience within a financial controlling and or project reporting department.
• Good working knowledge of accounting principles.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Good report and procedure writing skills.
• Use of MS Office and Excel in particular.
• Ability to coordinate tasks and prioritise under tight deadlines.
• Solid understanding of work package management and controls.
• Knowledge of risk management principles.
• Knowledge of Single Source Regulations and MoD procedures.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with the Senior Management Team to validate the financial integrity of offers before sending to customer.
• Develop work breakdown structures to generate project plans, work packages and schedules for future contract proposals.
• Forecast: assist in operating plans and forecast updates to the annual budget and report deviations.
• Ensure all finance data is accurate and costs are allocated and hours booked correctly across the programme.
• Prepare Group contract reviews and monthly EAC updates; ensure labour and sub-contractor costs are booked.
• Support month-end closing for financial reporting and correct accounting treatments.
• Lead the SSRO Audit from a finance viewpoint and complete SSRO supplier reports.
• Support with statutory audits and ad hoc financial requests.

Salary: GBP44.28 - GBP44.28 per hour

On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Project Accountant on an initial 12-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting across defence projects, supporting project financial control, forecasting and reporting, as well as assisting with future bid campaigns.

Role: Project Accountant
Pay: £44.28 per hour Via Umbrella
Location: Oxford
Contract: Monday – Friday 08:30 – 17:00 – 37.5 hours per week, 12-month contract
IR35 Status: Inside
Security Clearance: BPSS, will require SC Clearance, preference is on application

Responsibilities

• Liaise with the Senior Management Team to validate the financial integrity of offers before sending to customer.
• Develop work breakdown structures to generate project plans, work packages and schedules for future contract proposals.
• Forecast: Assist in the preparation of operating plans and forecast updates to the annual budget. Also reporting deviations to budget.
• Ensure all finance data is accurate ensuring costs are allocated correctly and hours bookings are up to date across the programme.
• Contracts reviews: Prepare Group contract reviews and monthly “Estimate at Completion” (EACs) updates. Ensure labour and sub-contractor costs are correctly booked.
• Support month end closing for financial reporting, ensuring correct accounting treatments on the programme.
• Lead the SSRO Audit from a finance view point
• Complete annual SSRO Supplier report submissions
• Support with statutory audit answering any programme related queries.
• Assist with other finance month end tasks eg Support on Spares/Training activities.
• Focal point for programme related queries
• Actively support the programme with ad hoc financial requests
• Add finance expertise across the programme challenging delivery team where necessary.
• Internal control: monitor adherence to company policies and procedures (such as risk management) and the relevant accounting standards.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Qualified CIMA Accountant, or part-qualified CIMA with strong relevant experience.
• Experience within a financial controlling and or project reporting department
• Good working knowledge of accountancy principles
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Good report and procedure writing skills
• Use of MS office and Excel in particular
• Ability to coordinate a number of tasks simultaneously, and to prioritise and work to tight deadlines
• Solid understanding of work package management and work package control
• Knowledge of risk management principles
• A structured /methodical approach to all planning/tracking tasks
• Knowledge of Single Source Regulatory framework
• Knowledge of Single Source Contract Regulations
• Knowledge of MoD Commercial and Accountancy procedures
• Experience of working with SAP
• Experience of Project accounting
• Experience of MoD Commercial and Accountancy procedures
