The Progress Tutor Role

The school is seeking a Progress Tutor for a full-time, immediate start position in an ambitious post-16 academy in Bradford. The Progress Tutor is a dedicated, student-focused role central to the academy's commitment to excellence. Essential Requirements
  • Prior experience in a youth support, coaching, or educational setting.
  • A recognised qualification in Education, Youth Work, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (willingness to apply for one).

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Support: Facilitate a smooth transition to college life, offering guidance and orientation.
  • Academic Monitoring: Regularly track and analyse student academic achievement and attendance data using an online portal.
  • Motivational Coaching: Provide tailored coaching to foster self‑esteem, motivation, and a growth mindset.
  • Pastoral Care: Offer front‑line pastoral support, building confidence and addressing non‑academic barriers to learning.
  • Liaison: Act as a key point of contact, liaising with parents/guardians, teachers, and external agencies when necessary.
  • Careers Guidance: Deliver careers information, advice, and guidance to support future planning (university, apprenticeships, employment).
  • Progress Review: Conduct regular one‑to‑one and group reviews to discuss performance, feedback, and target setting.
  • Intervention Strategy: Promptly intervene when students show signs of under‑performance, co‑developing personalised improvement plans.
  • Safeguarding: Uphold the academy's rigorous safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, confidential, and up‑to‑date records of all student interactions, progress, and interventions.
