Job summary

The University of the Built Environment invites a motivated Programme Manager to lead our Digital Campus programme, splitting between Horizons in Reading and home. The role offers £55,000–£60,000 per year plus benefits.

As a senior member of the Strategy & Planning Office, you will oversee component projects, apply PM methodologies, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive delivery of a varied portfolio of strategic initiatives across online teaching, learning and assessment platforms.

Qualifications

• Certification in a recognised programme or project management methodology (e.g., MSP, APM, PRINCE2, PMP)
• Experience leading and managing complex strategic and business improvement projects
• Experience delivering transformation with extensive digital/technology components
• Demonstrable skill in organising, prioritising and managing complex programmes and their project portfolios

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage component projects to deliver the programme plan
• Manage projects that centre on significant digital or technology infrastructures
• Apply the University’s project management framework to lead all stages of Digital Campus projects
• Support budget management, direct resource allocation, and maintain supplier relationships to ensure project success within costs

Programme Manager

Full time (35 hrs/wk), fixed term until October 2030

Split place of work between Horizons (Reading, Berkshire) and Home

Salary range £55,000 to £60,000 pa plus benefits

We're looking for a motivated Programme Manager to help lead the way on our Digital Campus programme; a strategic investment that will transform the online teaching, learning and assessment experiences that the University of the Built Environment offers to students and staff.

As a senior member of the Strategy & Planning Office, you'll work closely with stakeholders across the University, contributing to the ongoing development of project and programme management practices, ensuring effective planning, collaboration, and successful delivery across a varied portfolio of strategic initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and proactive programme manager to play a pivotal role in the future of the University and help deliver lasting organisational impact.

Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:

• Oversee and manage component projects to deliver the programme plan
• Manage projects that centre on significant digital or technology infrastructures
• Apply the University’s project management framework to lead all stages of Digital Campus projects
• Support budget management, direct resource allocation, and maintain supplier relationships to ensure project success is achieved within agreed cost parameters

Our main requirements:

• Certification in a recognised programme or project management methodology (e.g., MSP, APM, PRINCE2, PMP)
• Experience in leading and managing complex strategic and business improvement projects with organisational scope and at significant scale
• Experience delivering transformation and change with extensive digital/technology components (e.g., systems, platforms, or digital services), and in partnership with technical specialists
• Demonstrable skill in organising, prioritising and managing complex and diverse programmes of work and their project portfolios
