Job description
Lead programmes. Drive delivery. Shape the future.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Manager to join our Capital Delivery team.

This is a permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work across the network and spend approximately three days per week on-site across all five networks. A Full UK Driving Licence is required, and subject to meeting the mileage requirements a Company Car/Car Allowance will be provided.

As a Programme Manager, you’ll take ownership of a significant portfolio of work ranging from large scale Capital works to high volume smaller investment programmes - focusing on programme management rather than individual project delivery. You’ll lead programme, planning, governance and assurance processes, embed structured lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement across Capital Delivery whilst working closely along side the operational and commercial functions.

Why you’ll love this role
  • Programme Leadership – Manage and deliver large-scale programmes, ensuring programme, planning, and resourcing are in place to meet and outperform agreed timelines and value targets.
  • Strategic Oversight – Own all programme management activities, including RAID management, milestone tracking, scorecard updates, and consolidated reporting.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Influence senior stakeholders, manage communication across interconnected teams, and elevate risks effectively.
  • Continuous Improvement – Embed assurance processes and structured lessons‑learned to drive best practices across the programme lifecycle.
  • Team Leadership – Lead a team of six (three Programme Analysts and three System Controllers), fostering collaboration and high performance.
What you’ll bring

You’re a confident leader with proven experience in programme management and a strong understanding of operational delivery.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Business or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience leading large scale, complex programmes with robust governance and benefit realisation.
  • Knowledge of PM methodologies
  • Confident stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Skills
  • Exceptional communication and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Line management experience and a collaborative leadership style.
