Job Description

I am working with a global banking institution that are launching a new proposition around transaction banking. The programme has been mobilized and they require a strong programme director to see this through to execution.

This is a multifaceted role and will involve overseeing multidisciplinary initiatives across liquidity, cash management and working capital. It is expected you have strong programme delivery experience in large, cross functional change initiatives within commercial or transaction banking and ideally within a business launch or commercial context.

Furthermore, it is key you have experience in working with technology delivery counterparts to challenge the status quo but also drive technology execution in line with key business objectives.

Strategic Leadership & Alignment
  • Define the overall vision, strategy, and objectives of the programme.
  • Ensure the programme aligns with the organization’s mission, strategy, and long-term goals.
  • Influence and engage senior stakeholders to secure support and resources.
Programme Planning & Design
  • Develop the programme framework, roadmap, and governance structure.
  • Translate strategic objectives into measurable outcomes.
  • Identify, prioritize, and scope projects within the programme.
Governance & Stakeholder Management
  • Establish clear reporting, accountability, and decision‑making structures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between executive leadership and project teams.
  • Manage expectations and communication with sponsors, executives, and external partners.
Oversight of Delivery
  • Monitor progress across projects to ensure they deliver benefits on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Manage dependencies, risks, and issues across projects.
  • Ensure programme outcomes and benefits are realized, not just outputs delivered.
Financial & Resource Management
  • Develop and manage the programme budget.
  • Allocate resources across multiple projects effectively.
  • Monitor financial performance and make adjustments as necessary.
Risk & Change Management
  • Identify and manage risks, issues, and interdependencies across the programme.
  • Lead change management efforts to ensure adoption of new systems, processes, or behaviours.
  • Anticipate challenges and proactively adjust plans.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Provide leadership and direction to project managers and cross‑functional teams.
  • Build and maintain high‑performing teams with clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Mentor and support staff development within the programme.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
  • Track progress against key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Produce regular reports for stakeholders and executives.
  • Evaluate programme success and capture lessons learned for future initiatives.

This is an initial 6 month contract (inside IR35), in office 4 days per week (City based).

Rate is negotiable dependent upon relevant experience.
