Job summary

Lawsons is recruiting a Van Driver for our Sidcup branch. You will be responsible for delivering fencing, timber and building materials to trade and retail customers, ensuring safe, on-time deliveries and professional customer service.

This full-time, permanent position runs Monday to Friday 7:00–16:30 with every second Saturday 08:00–12:00. The salary ranges from £31,000 to £32,000 plus benefits and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Full UK driving licence with a clean or acceptable record.
• Previous van/delivery driver experience is essential.
• Experience delivering building materials or similar bulky goods.
• Excellent knowledge of local roads and delivery routes, with planning ability.
• Professional, polite and confident communication with customers.
• Physically capable of loading/unloading heavy items safely.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently as part of a branch team.

Responsibilities

• Load, secure and deliver fencing, timber, landscaping and building materials to customers.
• Complete delivery routes safely, on time and according to schedules.
• Carry out vehicle and load safety checks before and during shifts.
• Check products against delivery notes and prevent damage.
• Provide professional, customer-focused service at every delivery.
• Obtain proof of delivery and report shortages, damages or issues.
• Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and the transport team.
• Assist with loading/unloading and manual handling.
• Keep vehicle clean, secure and maintained; report faults promptly.
• Follow health and safety and company policies; complete documentation.
• Support branch and yard teams with general duties when not on deliveries.
• Undertake other driving, delivery and branch duties as required.
