Geosyntec is seeking a Mid-Career Environmental Consultant to join our contaminated land practice in Almondsbury, near Bristol. You will lead site investigation and remediation projects, work with a team of experts, and help expand our capabilities across the UK & Ireland.

The role requires 5+ years in environmental consulting, strong data analysis, and proficiency in groundwater modelling. You will mentor colleagues, prepare technical reports, and liaise with clients and regulators as needed.

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mid-Career Environmental Consultant to join our contaminated land practice in Almondsbury, in the Bristol area. This position is suited to a talented, highly motivated individual with experience of contaminated land, groundwater assessment and remediation consulting, who is interested in leading and contributing to our innovative and challenging projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We expect that you will work on a wide variety of challenging technical projects and will help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities. Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Contributing to the growth of our site investigation & remediation practice through client relationships, business development efforts and market growth initiatives
  • Depending on your level of experience: Task management or Project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, meeting project schedules, quality requirements and client expectations.
  • Data assessment and development of conceptual site models
  • Design, development and calibration of groundwater models to assess groundwater migration/problems and where needed solute transport, or thermal modelling.
  • Undertaking risk assessments (controlled waters and human health) using both analytical and (where appropriate) numerical packages.
  • Interpretation of modelling results to answer project objects and identify/develop remediation criteria or further works including the design of further works, site investigations, and/or remediation strategies etc.
  • Management of fieldwork tasks including site inspections, multi‑media environmental sampling and characterisation, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and management of remediation system operations and maintenance.
  • Management, training and mentoring of early or mid‑career professionals.
  • Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; and
  • Supporting the senior team in client care and development activities.

Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, earth sciences, engineering, environmental science or a related field of study. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, or a related field of study (preferred)
  • Professional registration (e.g. CGeol / CSci / EurGeol). (desirable)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years (7+ desirable) of direct environmental consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Demonstrable track record of project or task delivery in the site investigation and remediation sector. (required)
  • Experience of directing and managing the overall delivery of projects including project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required for Project Professional level)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments and meeting strict deadlines. (required)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Valid UK driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
