A public service organization in Portishead seeks a dedicated police officer to provide high-level service and support to communities. The role entails responding to emergencies, engaging with various individuals, and working within a professional team. As a police officer, you will deliver the highest level of service to our communities, providing care and reassurance to those experiencing difficult moments and serving as a trusted source of guidance and protection.
You will be appointed as a police officer from day one. During the first 9 weeks you will undertake personal protection training, driver training, system training and additional classroom learning at Police Headquarters in Portishead. Following this, you will enter a tutorship period with a 24/7 response team to achieve Independent Patrol status. After an initial 8‑week placement in Patrol, you will undergo a two‑year probation period, culminating in full occupational competence.

You will be paid a starting salary of £29,907, rising to £48,231 at the top of the pay scale over approximately 6 years of service. Benefits include the Police Pension Scheme (2015), shift allowances, a company laptop and mobile phone, insurance schemes, and substantial holiday entitlement.
Successful applicants will attend a compulsory familiarisation event, a virtual assessment centre and an in‑force interview. Course places are allocated in accordance with operational demand; new officers may be posted anywhere within the force area.
