Job summary

Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust seeks a Trust-wide Professional Lead for Dietetics to drive clinical governance, workforce development and strategic leadership across the Dietetic service.

The post holder will chair key groups, supervise senior Dietitians, and represent the profession with external partners, ensuring high-quality care across London and Hertfordshire.

• Extensive leadership experience in Dietetics.

Responsibilities

• Chair the Trust-wide Nutrition and Hydration Group.
• Chair the Trust-wide Dietetic Leadership Group.
• Represent Dietitians at senior management level in the Divisions.
• Be clinically active and the single point of contact for Dietitians by using professional expertise to support workforce development.
• Represent CLCH Dietitians with NHS England, Higher Education Institutions, British Dietetic Association, Integrated Care Systems across London and Hertfordshire.
• Represent Dietitians with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Deputise for the Chief AHP as appropriate.
• Lead on clinical supervision ensuring governance across the Trust and with ICS partners.
• Lead workforce transformation programmes (Apprenticeships, Preceptorships, Rotations, Placements Expansion, Return to Practice, Summer School, AHP Support Workforce Development).

CLCH are seeking a Trust-wide Professional Lead for Dietetics. The post holder will be a strategic leader, active clinician, fully visible and work collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop an informed and effective workforce for Dietetics, ensuring Registered and Non-registered Dietitians have the necessary competencies and skills to provide the best quality care by

• Chairing the Trust-wide Nutrition and Hydration Group
• Chairing the Trust-wide Dietetic Leadership Group
• Representing Dietitians at senior management level in the Divisions

Be responsible for leading on clinical supervision of Dietitians ensuring clinical governance with safe, responsive and effective clinical interventions

Lead on workforce transformation programmes with Apprenticeships, Preceptorships, Rotations, Clinical Placement Expansion (Fair Share Model), Return to Practice, Summer School and AHP Support Workforce Development

Main duties of the job

Successfully delivering on three core priorities with workforce transformation, resource optimisation, quality and safety

Key duties include:

• To provide Trust-wide profession specific professional and clinical leadership in Dietetics
• Lead the Clinical Leadership Network which co-ordinates and oversees the development and communication of profession specific guidance and education in line with Trust strategies and local policies as well as best available evidence nationally.
• Interpret and evaluate information from diverse sources to make informed judgements about its quality, appropriateness for professional practice and service delivery.
• Establish professional boundaries and resolve issues using negotiation skills, influencing and diplomacy with relevant stakeholders ensuring resolution of highly sensitive and contentious professional issues
• Represent the Trust at internal and external AHP events as appropriate
• Be directly responsible for clinical supervision for senior Dietitians also ensuring that suitable clinical governance is in place across the Trust and where required for our Integrated Care System (ICS) partners.

Experience

• Clinically active with extensive clinical experience within Dietetics in a range of clinical settings and/or types of organisations
• Extensive leadership experience in Dietetic role
• Significant experience supervising and appraising staff and students
• Development of Registered and Non-registered Dietitians by contributing to CPD including students
• Facilitation, teaching and presentation to internal and external stakeholders about Dietetics
• Use clinical audit for monitoring and evaluation of clinical practice
• Develop, interpret and implement local, regional and national policies, procedures and guidelines
• Ensure quality assurance, risk assessment and management pertaining to Dietetics
• Proven experience of leading service development and innovation
• Working with and involving patients, families and carers in service development and evaluation
• Highly developed communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders
• Involvement at local, regional and national level with the Dietetic network
• Experience undertaking Serious Incident Investigations and/or managing complaints
• Taking part in discussions at senior leadership level
• Developing strategic direction
