Job summary

Babcock International in Plymouth is hiring a Production Support Technician for our Devonport site. You will support production documentation, quality records and safety compliance, working 37 hours per week.

Based at Dock 9 and the Submarine Refit Complex, you will coordinate NDE and welding inspection requests, update data in systems, and liaise with quality, inspection and engineering teams to ensure on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, refit or maintenance environments.
• Ability to produce and close out technical and quality documentation.
• Strong IT skills and experience with data management.
• Effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Team-focused with willingness to learn and complete training.
• Background in engineering trade is advantageous but not essential.

Job description

As a Production Support Technician, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll play a vital supporting role within our Submarine Support Business Unit, based in Dock 9 and the Submarine Refit Complex at Devonport. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the UK's defence programme, ensuring production documentation, quality records and safety compliance are delivered to the highest standards. Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

• Produce and maintain compliant production and quality documentation to meet programme, safety and quality requirements
• Coordinate and track non-destructive examination and welding inspection requests through to completion
• Update and manage production and quality data within departmental systems and databases
• Ensure compliance with nuclear safety, corporate procedures and regulatory requirements
• Liaise with quality, inspection and engineering teams to support production delivery

This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week at Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth, Devon. Set working times are 7.30am-3.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 7.00am-12.00pm on Friday.

• Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, refit or maintenance environment
• Confidence producing and closing out technical and quality documentation
• Strong IT skills, including data management and use of Microsoft Windows-based systems
• The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
• A team-focused approach with a willingness to learn and complete required training, A background in a constructive or engineering trade would be advantageous, but is not essential

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
