This is a fixed-term temporary contract of up to 18 months. You’ll manage and coordinate the smooth delivery of broadcast media opportunities from pre- to post-production, acting as the main point of contact between production companies and the RNLI. Your primary responsibility will be supporting the making of the BBC Saving Lives at Sea series. Working with the Communications team, volunteers and staff centrally and around the coast, you’ll coordinate logistics, find and review rescue footage, research stories, identify and brief interviewees, help arrange additional filming and liaise between the production company and RNLI teams across the organisation.
Primarily based in Poole, there will be opportunities to travel to support various aspects of production. A driving licence would be an advantage. The RNLI is a 24/7 search and rescue organisation, and you should be ready to work outside normal office hours and take part in the out-of-hours duty press officer rota. You’ll also support the wider Press Office team where needed. Your reward will be seeing the RNLI’s reputation go from strength to strength as you help raise awareness of this lifesaving charity and inspire people to support us.
You’ll be a skilled communicator with good organisation and project management skills, who can juggle priorities and work well with a wide variety of stakeholders. You’ll have some experience working in PR, journalism or film production - you need to be able to spot a good story, understand what the production company needs and balance that with the demands of a busy volunteer-based emergency service. Understanding of RNLI operations and basic video editing would also be desirable.
The RNLI is committed to safeguarding; protecting a person’s health, wellbeing, and human rights, enabling them to live free from harm, abuse, and neglect. We expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment and have a zero-tolerance approach. The suitability of all prospective employees and volunteers will be assessed during the recruitment process in line with this commitment. This will include relevant criminal record checks being carried out, dependent on the eligibility of the role. (England & Wales; DBS check, Scotland; Disclosure Scotland PVG, Northern Ireland; Access NI, Republic of Ireland; Garda Vetting; International, International Child Protection Certificate process).

We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, we also look for applicants who share our commitment to living our RNLI values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable) and helping us work towards Our Vision: To save Every One.
