Job summary

A growing engineering company located in Stockport is looking for a Production Supervisor to lead manufacturing teams and ensure on-time delivery of products. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in heavy industry manufacturing and hold a relevant qualification. This role offers competitive salary up to £50K plus great benefits including a strong pension scheme and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in a manufacturing / production supervisor role.
  • IOSH / NEBOSH or other health and safety qualification.
  • Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure team operates according to Health and Safety policies.
  • Lead team to deliver product to cost and quality requirements.
  • Prepare daily reporting of primary business measures.

Skills

Overview

Production Supervisors with heavy engineering manufacturing / assembly experience required in Stockport. Due to business growth, this is an outstanding opportunity to join part of a global business operating in the defence industry, supplying equipment to the British military.

The Production Supervisors will lead and supervise manufacturing teams of Welders, Fabricators, Mechanical and Electrical Fitters to safely ensure the on-time delivery of finished products at correct quality and cost. They will champion continuous improvement in all activities and areas of responsibility.

Experience to support your application
  • Heavy industry manufacturing experience
  • HND / Degree level qualification in manufacturing / engineering
  • Substantial experience gained in a manufacturing / production supervisor role
  • IOSH / NEBOSH or other health and safety related qualification
  • Leadership of Manufacturing teams in Aerospace, Automotive or similar mechanical engineering business
  • Leading and implementing Manufacturing schedules and recovery plans
  • Project reporting including definition and collation of KPIs
  • Working knowledge of SAP (or similar ERP)
  • Computer skills (MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
  • Managing manufacturing environments safely and a firm understanding of managing risks
  • Resource planning and competence management
  • Completion of employee performance reviews
  • Equipment maintenance and PM planning
Responsibilities
  • Ensure your team operates in accordance with the Company’s Health, Environmental and Safety policies, lead SHE activities in the relevant area.
  • Lead the team to deliver Product to Cost and Quality requirements, ensuring that schedule adherence is met, creating recovery plans / short interval control where required.
  • Responsible for effective deployment of resource, achieving business returned hour targets are delivered.
  • Redeploy resource (and self) to other business units where required.
  • Manage absence according to company procedure (holidays, sickness, disciplinary etc), RTWs are carried within 24 hours of return. Fully responsible for welfare.
  • Ensure team competence can deliver targets, ensuring that maximum flexibility within the team and on the job / training courses are arranged and attended.
  • Prepare daily reporting (upwards) of primary business measures.
  • Ensure that the company Quality Management Systems and Manufacturing Procedures are followed without exception, any escapes.
  • To maintain the competency, capability and capacity of the manufacturing team to ensure delivery of programme requirements.
  • Personally carry out start and end of shift briefs, ensuring direct workforce receive daily communications and are kept apprised of key business topics.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and communication of local KPIs (SQCDP) to team / and management.
  • Lead daily auditing of workplace environment ensuring Target Conditions are met to “visitor ready” standards.
