iCOMAT is seeking a Working Production Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing activities for composite parts at its UK facilities. You will supervise production teams, manage schedules, ensure safety and quality, and participate in hands‑on manufacturing about half the time.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in composite manufacturing and at least 2 years in leadership, with deep knowledge of layup, vacuum bagging, curing, trimming, and assembly.

We work with 25+ customers and completed the largest ever Series A in composites manufacturing to fuel a significant scale‑up, with growth plans that will see the business multiply in size over the next two to three years and expand operations into the UK, Europe and the US.

The business has currently more than 130,000 sqm of production capacity with manufacturing facilities in the UK (Gloucester and Swindon) and the US (Dayton, Ohio); a Hardware R&D Centre in Bristol, UK; and a Software R&D Centre in Athens, Greece.

The Working Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the production teams daily manufacturing activities while actively participating in production activities approximately 50% of the time. This role serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for composite manufacturing processes, providing technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and hands‑on leadership to ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved.

The ideal candidate combines good leadership skills with extensive experience in composite manufacturing, including layup, vacuum bagging, curing, trimming and assembly.

What will you be doing?

Team Leadership

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of production personnel to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
• Monitor production schedules and adjust resources as needed to meet customer commitments and operational targets.
• Lead shift start‑up meetings, communicate priorities, and ensure clear understanding of production goals.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Hands‑On Support (Approximately 50%)

• Actively participate in manufacturing operations, working alongside production team members to support output requirements.
• Perform composite manufacturing tasks including material preparation, layup, vacuum bagging, bonding, curing, trimming, and assembly.
• Assist with complex builds and prototype development.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime and quality issues.
• Support equipment setup and maintenance coordination.

Production – Composites

• Act as the production teams’ resource for composite manufacturing processes and best practices.
• Help train, mentor, and develop team members on composite manufacturing techniques.
• Work with Engineering, Quality, and project teams to resolve technical issues and support new product introductions.
• Ensure adherence to work instructions, process specifications, and customer requirements.

What do we need from you?

• 5+ years of experience in composite manufacturing.
• 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced knowledge of composite materials and production processes.
• Experience with hand layup, vacuum bagging, bonding, curing, trimming, and assembly operations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical specifications.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams while remaining actively involved in production activities.
