Job description

As the nation's flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It's something we've been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world's first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It's the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you're inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

Please note, this is a 6 month fixed term contract role

The role:

Production Supervisor

Working pattern: Days Monday-Friday 7-3pm

As a Production Supervisor, you will direct, control, organise and motivate an assigned team of associates to achieve key workshop performance targets, including productivity and efficiency, turnaround time, vitals, cost and quality. You will be uncompromising in your approach to safety, security, process and regulatory requirements, ensuring standards are consistently maintained across the workshop. Customer and colleague focused, you will communicate clearly and articulately, remain resilient under pressure, and work with integrity, trust and collaboration. As a strong people leader with excellent leadership capability, you will build, support and contribute to high-performing teams that deliver safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes.

What you’ll do
As a Production Supervisor, you will:

You will lead, organise and motivate an assigned team to deliver key workshop performance targets, including productivity, efficiency, turnaround time, vitals, cost and quality. Working closely with the PRM, you will allocate work in line with the production plan, monitor workflow, provide shift supervision on a rota basis and deputise when required. You will support colleague welfare, manage performance using the appropriate informal or formal processes, and ensure the timely completion of annual appraisals for Technicians and Technical Specialists. You will also liaise with customers and support departments to resolve technical, delivery or workflow issues, while driving production projects, lean initiatives and continuous improvement activity. A key part of the role will be ensuring Health and Safety practices are implemented effectively, escalating any shortfalls to senior management and providing flexible support across the Production Department in line with your skills, experience and training.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

You will be a role model for British Airways' brand behaviours and ways of working, demonstrating a positive can-do attitude and a willingness to adapt when priorities change or things do not go to plan. As an ambassador for British Airways and your team, you will be highly self-motivated, proactive and confident working on your own initiative. You will communicate clearly and professionally, remain uncompromising in your approach to safety, security, process and regulatory requirements, and bring strong organisational skills, accuracy and a continuous focus on supporting the next operational task.

Your experience:

You will bring a high degree of business awareness, with relevant knowledge of aircraft systems and the ability to work confidently within a safety-focused engineering environment. You will be able to demonstrate sound judgement by making and justifying decisions that consider safety, customer requirements and cost, while maintaining compliance with established processes and operational standards. Ideally, you will hold an ONC, OND or recognised equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience gained in a relevant technical or operational setting. A recognised management or supervisory qualification would also be desirable, supporting your ability to contribute effectively within a busy, team-based environment.

Inclusion & Diversity

At British Airways we all have a part to play in creating an inclusive place to work. Diverse representation among our people is important to us and we recognise that all our colleagues are uniquely different and bring their own originality, creativity and identity to work.

Inclusion and diversity are a key driver of innovation and we're committed to creating a culture where everyone feels that they can be themselves. We're looking for people from all backgrounds and cultures to join us and be a part of our journey to become a Better BA as we continue to connect Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
