Qualifications

Job description

We are currently hiring for a production supervisor to join our team here at Smiths Engineering.

Reporting To: Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities
  • To manage the workshop on a day-to-day basis, supervising and supporting the work of the team
  • Experience of running CNC machines unsupervised with the ability to read and understand drawings
  • Help/Assist operations with the planning & scheduling of production to ensure efficient workflow and utilization of all available assets
  • Assist with the training of new and existing staff
  • Monitor production processes to maximise efficiencies and minimise waste throughout the plant
  • Assist in the improvement of quality systems and ensure that good manufacturing processes are followed throughout the plant
  • Ensure that raw materials used are of the prescribed standard and that products are consistent
  • Maintain high levels of housekeeping and safety throughout the workshop
  • Continually monitor internal systems in preparation and finishing areas
  • Manage production staff, monitor staff performance and determination to drive for high personal standards in self
  • Maintain appropriate records
Relevant Knowledge & Experience
  • Production related experience gained in an engineering/fabrication environment
  • Experience of CNC Machining (Heidenhain and Siemens controls)
  • Strong Knowledge of CNC Milling
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Extensive knowledge of working with scheduling and planning tools.
  • Experience in supervising staff and proven ability to lead and motivate a team
