Job description
Production Shift Manager (Evenings)

Location: Solidcor Manufacturing Facility, Chesterfield (On Site)
Shift: Monday to Friday, 14:30–22:30

IMPACT EVOLVE are proud to be partnering with Solidcor, a high-growth UK fire door manufacturer transforming social housing compliance. With the fastest turnaround in the sector and a rapidly scaling operation, Solidcor is strengthening its leadership on the late shift.

We’re searching for a hands‑on Production Shift Manager to lead the evening operation across framing and slabs — driving safety, performance, flow and standards, while maintaining the right WIP levels for a smooth next‑day start‑up. You’ll manage a small but growing team, build capability, and ensure your shift consistently delivers plan vs. actual.

Key Responsibilities
Safety, Compliance & Housekeeping
  • Own H&S performance for the late shift.

  • Complete daily safety walks and 5S checks, driving quick corrective actions.

  • Maintain a culture of safe, disciplined working across all areas.

People Leadership
  • Lead, coach and support operators.

  • Manage attendance, performance, timekeeping and training needs.

  • Maintain a skills matrix and drive cross‑training for resilience.

Shift Performance & Output Delivery
  • Deliver the daily plan across framing and slabs with the right WIP for assembly.

  • Run Short Interval Control: track performance, manage variances and drive recovery actions.

  • Monitor throughput (press, slabs, CNC, frames) and optimise labour utilisation.

Quality & RFT
  • Ensure adherence to SWIs, quality standards and specifications.

  • Support root‑cause analysis for scrap, rework and RFT issues.

  • Escalate quality concerns promptly.

Communication & Handover
  • Lead structured start‑ and end‑of‑shift meetings.

  • Communicate priorities, issues and expectations throughout the shift.

  • Complete accurate daily handovers to set up the morning shift for success.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and lead improvements in safety, flow, quality and cost.

  • Support 5S, SIC discipline, standard work continuity and small improvement projects.

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience managing a production shift or team within manufacturing.

  • Strong record of delivering output, cost, quality and safety KPIs.

  • Confident using data, trackers and systems (ERP/production tracker/Excel).

  • Effective people leader who can set pace, hold standards and drive engagement.

  • Hands‑on, calm and confident on the shop floor.

  • Continuous improvement mindset.

Desirable: machining, joinery, CNC, wood products or lean experience.

In Return

Solidcor offer a supportive, fast‑paced manufacturing environment with genuine opportunities to grow alongside the business. Benefits include:

  • Unlimited annual leave policy

  • Private medical cover after 3 months

  • Performance‑based bonus scheme

  • Friday evening food treats on the late shift

  • The chance to help shape a scaling operation and influence future ways of working
