Job description

We’re working with a leading grower and packer of fresh produce to recruit a Production Shift Manager who thrives in a fast‑paced, seasonal environment. This is a business with deep agricultural roots, a strong retail presence, and a commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

As Shift Manager, you’ll be at the heart of the packhouse operation leading teams, driving performance, and ensuring that every tray, punnet, and box meets the highest standards. If you’re passionate about people, process, and produce, this could be your next big move. The business is also going through a lot of project work at the moment, as they are investing heavily into their site and business. Not only adding automation and technology, but also into its staff and employees.

They have recently revamped their wellbeing areas and offices, to an amazing standard and that is probably unseen in the produce industry (small things, but huge impact).

The Role
  • Lead a production shift across grading, packing, and dispatch
  • Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (12hr shifts)
  • Manage team performance, training, and engagement
  • Ensure product quality, traceability, and compliance with customer specs
  • Drive efficiency, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with planning, technical, and engineering teams to keep things flowing
The Person
  • Experience in fresh produce, food manufacturing, or FMCG environments
  • Strong leadership skills with a hands‑on, people‑first approach
  • Comfortable with seasonal peaks, fast turnaround, and changing priorities
  • Knowledge of BRC, retailer standards, and food safety protocols
  • Resilient, proactive, and ready to make a difference
Why Apply?
  • Join a business with scale, ambition, and a strong reputation in UK retail
  • Be part of a collaborative, values‑driven team
  • Opportunity to grow, lead, and shape your shift

If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and lead from the front in a dynamic fresh produce environment, we’d love to hear from you.
