Job description

Vickerstock is working in partnership with a global manufacturing business to recruit a Production Planning Specialist. This is a key role within the operations team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of production schedules and play a central part in ensuring customer demand is met efficiently and consistently.

This position would suit someone with a strong background in production planning or scheduling with experience in a manufacturing environment.

The Role
  • Translating monthly supply plans into detailed daily and weekly production schedules
  • Planning and allocating work orders across production lines to meet output, cost, safety, and quality targets
  • Monitoring production performance and adjusting schedules to manage backlogs, material constraints, labour availability, or design changes
  • Ensuring materials, people, tools, and equipment are in place to support production plans
  • Raising and managing work orders and purchase requests aligned to production requirements
  • Reviewing production specifications and capacity data to optimise manufacturing processes
  • Analysing machine and operator loading to maximise efficiency and throughput
  • Monitoring production data to ensure smooth material flow across the plant
  • Supporting a safe, well-­organised, and positive working environment
  • Using structured problem-­solving and root cause analysis to address non-conforming processes
About You
  • A degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 3 years' experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar manufacturing role
  • A strong understanding of capacity planning, resource utilisation, and material flow
  • Experience working closely with supply planning and production teams
  • Proficiency in ERP and production planning systems
