Production Planning & Control Manager
Location: Northampton
Salary: GBP50,000 to GBP70,000
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Are you an experienced Production Planning Manager with strong MRP/ERP knowledge and a talent for keeping customers fully in the loop?

We are looking for a highly organised and commercially aware Production Planning & Control Manager to join a leading manufacturer. This role is all about ensuring customers have confidence in delivery dates, analysing data to understand exactly where we are in the orderbook, and driving improvements in how we plan and communicate.

The Role

  • Take ownership of production planning across the business, developing and maintaining the master schedule.
  • Act as the main liaison with customers, providing clarity on orders, delivery status and any changes.
  • Lead weekly production planning meetings, sharing data-driven updates with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyse orderbook trends, capacity, and resource availability to flag constraints and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure all goods are shipped on time and in line with customer expectations.
  • Oversee stock control and reporting, running PSI and SIOP outputs to support group reporting.
  • Support continuous improvement projects to streamline planning processes and improve scheduling accuracy.

About You

  • Experienced in production planning, scheduling, or control in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong user of MRP/ERP systems with the ability to generate meaningful insights.
  • Excellent communicator, confident in managing customer relationships as well as internal teams.
  • Analytical mindset with strong Excel skills (pivot tables, reporting, KPIs).
  • Able to think strategically while remaining hands-on and detail-focused.
