Production Planning & Control Manager

£70,000 + £4,560 car allowance, company pension, BUPA healthcare, life assurance and more

Are you looking for a role where you will be an integral part of the site planning and production team for a major, international manufacturer? Does the thought of a varied and senior role where you will put your own stamp on the planning function appeal to you? If so, we\'d like to hear from you. We are currently recruiting for a Production Planning and Control Manager for a major, international aerospace manufacturer in Hereford. This is a great opportunity to be part of the senior management team for one of Hereford\'s largest employers.

The focus of the role will be to plan and schedule the Manufacturing Plant from customer order through to dispatch by leading a planning and logistics function activity across the business functions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the plant Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning process to enable effective production demand and supply planning, understanding the current plant and subcontract demands, WIP and schedule adherence.
  • Have management responsibility for all supply chain management staff, including Purchasing, Planning and Invoicing/ Logistics.
  • Be accountable for the planning & scheduling of material to adhere and report on the daily TOC Lines, Pieces and On-Time to Schedule to customers
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP\'s), including training and defining competence and performance standards for the department. Develop standard process for assessing functional competence and performance measurement.
  • Lead the commitment acceptance process for the plant to maximize operational capabilities and EBIT from customer demand
  • Be responsible for ensuring the plan and schedule will support the agreed customer demand and will achieve the committed business budget revenue plans
  • Manage the material planning processes for the plant - all material on site and at sub-contractors from customer order placement through to shipments, level loaded to achieve daily targets, drive and maintain deliveries on time and in full.
  • Develop Capability, and load and capacity plans for key resources in conjunction with Operations staff.
  • Continuously improve planning & scheduling of material, with the necessary planning data integrity and will be responsible for all aspects of lead time reduction & improve product flow throughout the plant
Experience / Qualifications
  • Experience of Master Scheduling and a knowledge of raw materials planning would be advantageous
  • Experience in a planning role, ideally with management responsibility in a manufacturing environment
  • An understanding of problem solving and continuous improvement activities to include FMEA, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Must be able to demonstrate a range of leadership skills such as delegation, coaching and support while able to interpret and challenge traditional behaviors and practices
  • Experience in reporting, data analysis, effectively turning system data into action orientated information
