Job summary

UNITED UTILITIES GROUP PLC is seeking a Production Planning Analyst to join the Production Planning team and support cost and production planning for the regional water system. The role focuses on calculating OPEX for power and chemicals, monitoring budgets, and developing an optimised Water Production Plan within the aqueduct and LDTM system.

You will liaise with Procurement and Energy teams, manage the MISER modelling tool, and contribute to outage planning while delivering monthly variance

Qualifications

  • Understanding of water supply operation, including treatment, pumping, hydraulics, water quality standards and QA.
  • Knowledge of regulatory framework for the water industry.
  • Knowledge of cost drivers for the business.
  • Oral and written communication, report and procedure writing, organising and decision making.
  • Ability to use a wide range of computer systems.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with little supervision but also work well in a team.

Responsibilities

  • liaise with Procurement and Energy to obtain up to date costs of power and chemicals used in water treatment and distribution.
  • Assist in development and management of Chemical and Power budgets (circa £45Million+).
  • Monthly Variance reporting to Finance and Water treatment managers with regard to Chemical and Power budgets.
  • Develop and manage systems to monitor continuity of water supply considering water resources, outages and demand.
  • Provide technical and analytical input during significant events and incidents.
  • Power and Chemicals Budget Preparation and Variance Monitoring.
  • Maintain and administer the Production Outage Permit system.
  • Maintain and administer the Water Budget and associated tools.
  • Develop and embed the MISER modelling tool.
  • Assist in future development of Water Production Data.
  • Calculate marginal unit rates of operating water treatment works & pumping stations.

Job description

We have a development great opportunity for a Production Planning Analyst to join our Production Planning team. The Production Planning team is pivotal in the management and optimisation of the regional water supply system.

Your role as Production Planning Analyst will be to calculate the Power and Chemicals OPEX costs of running the regional water supply system, providing marginal costs specific to site whilst tracking and monitoring overall water production. You'll also assist in the development and implementation of an optimised Water Production Plan within the regional aqueduct and LDTM system. This will also include Outage Planning.

  • Understanding of the issues concerning the operation of Water Supply as a whole, including treatment, pumping, hydraulics, water quality standards and QA.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory framework within which the Water business operates.
  • Knowledge of cost drivers for the business.
