Job summary

Weetabix is seeking a Production Operator at the Deeside site. You will be involved in preparation, processing and packing of raw materials into finished products, ensuring weekly production targets are met. The role requires GMP experience, general English and Maths, and may involve FLT handling.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you’ll help maintain supply lines, complete production paperwork, and uphold safety standards while supporting continuous output and product quality.

Qualifications

• A good standard of general education is required in English & Maths.
• A sound working knowledge of the food industry with experience of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
• A fork lift truck (FLT) licence is an advantage for handling materials and waste.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the plant can complete weekly production.
• Maintain a constant supply of raw materials/ingredients and packaging to the production line.
• Make adjustments to the plant production line machinery to maximise production efficiency.
• Order the correct volumes of raw materials and packaging from the Warehouse to meet the daily production plan.
• Complete documentation related to production output, quality, and material usage.
• Induct new and temporary operators allocated to the production team.
• Perform production line adjustments, changeovers, strip downs and re-assembly when switching products.
• Ensure the production line is maintained in good condition to meet weekly plan.
• Complete all relevant safety checks before daily production starts.
• Ensure finished product specs are met during production.
• Use initiative to identify and fix production faults and stoppages.
• Order supplies to maintain continuous production runs and liaise with QA and Engineering when problems arise.

PURPOSE OF ROLE

The preparation, processing and packing of raw materials into finished products

The Recipe

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that the plant can complete weekly production
• Maintain a constant supply of raw materials/ingredients and packaging to the production line
• Make adjustments to the plant production line machinery and equipment to ensure that maximum production levels are achieved in the most efficient way possible
• Responsibility for ordering the correct volumes of raw materials and packaging from the Warehouse to meet the daily production plan
• Completion of documentation relating to production output levels, quality of finished product and material usage figures
• Indirect responsibility for the induction of new and temporary operators allocated to the production team
• Responsibility for production line adjustments, changeovers, strip downs and re-assembly when changing over product
• Directly responsible for ensuring that the production line is maintained in a proper and satisfactory condition in order to meet the weekly production plan
• Full responsibility for completion of all relevant safety checks prior to the commencement of the daily production plan
• Responsibility for the quality and quantity of the product being produced and packed and the relevant paperwork to support this
• Responsibility for ensuring that all finished product specifications are complied with during the production period
• The job holder is expected to use initiative and judgement in identifying and correcting production faults and stoppages
• The job holder is expected to use initiative and judgement in ordering a constant supply of raw materials and packaging from the Warehouse in order to maintain continuous production runs
• The job holder is expected to use initiative and judgement in communicating with QA and Engineering when problems arise
• The job holder is required to do all tasks considered as relevant by their line manager
• Responsible for Food Safety, Quality and Legality

SKILLS REQUIRED

• A fork lift truck (FLT) licence is an advantage for the lifting and positioning of raw materials and packaging and the removal of waste finished product
