Proper Cornish in Bodmin is hiring Production Operatives for the Mix Prep AM Shift (05:00–13:30). This hands-on role involves setting up scales and mixers, weighing ingredients to recipes, and ensuring smooth production with a focus on quality.

You’ll work as part of a small team under a Team Leader, with pay £13.21 per hour, enhanced to £16.51 after 20:00–06:00 or over 37.5 hours. Physical work, strong teamwork and attention to safety are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up scales and mixers at the start of each shift to begin production smoothly.

• Record batch numbers and maintain full traceability of all ingredients and mixes.
• Keep production lines well-supplied and ensure continuous operation.
• Operate mixers to ensure blends meet quality standards.
• Prepare glaze for pastry products with consistency and care.
• Minimise waste and dispose of it safely to maintain a clean workplace.
• Collaborate with the Team Leader and colleagues to complete training.

Join Our Mix Prep AM Shift as a Production Operative!

We’re expanding and have exciting opportunities for Production Operatives to join our Mix Prep AM Shift. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role at the heart of our pastry production, perfect for someone who enjoys physical work, teamwork, and producing high-quality food products.

Hours of Work: 05:00–13:30 (with 2 x 30-minute unpaid breaks) some flexibility may be needed.

Hourly Rate: £13.21 per hour

Enhanced Rate: £16.51 per hour for hours worked between 20:00–06:00 or hours over 37.5 per week

Key Responsibilities

• Set up scales and mixers at the start of each shift to ensure production can begin smoothly.


• Decant and prepare ingredients for Mix Prep and Production Line teams.


• Weigh out ingredients precisely following bespoke recipes.


• Record batch numbers and maintain full traceability of all raw ingredients and completed mixes.


• Keep production lines well-supplied throughout your shift.


• Operate mixers to ensure every mix is perfectly blended.


• Prepare glaze for pastry products, ensuring consistency and quality.


• Minimise waste and dispose of it correctly to maintain a clean, safe working environment.


• Work as part of a close-knit team with a dedicated Team Leader.


• Complete a comprehensive training programme to develop your food manufacturing skills.

Please note: This is a physically demanding role that involves lifting up to 25kg and being on your feet for most of the shift.
