Location: Toome

Hours: Monday – Thursday 4.00pm – 2:00am (4-day work week) 😄

Reports to: Maintenance and Masa Supervisor

Hourly Rate: £12.69, plus shift allowance

About the role

KEY RESONSIBILITIES

The following list constitutes the key tasks and duties of your post upon which your job performance will be assessed.

  • Operate the KBH machine according to company procedures, ensuring efficient and safe production of brick and paving products. Monitor machine performance and promptly report any mechanical issues or irregularities to the Team Leader or Supervisor.

  • Gain comprehensive operational knowledge of the dry side process and demonstrate proficiency in operating the dry side control cabin. This includes understanding all relevant systems, controls, and procedures associated with the dry side area to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to continuously improve dry side operations and support troubleshooting efforts when required.

  • Carry out mould changes on brick and paving production equipment in accordance with company procedures, ensuring all safety protocols are followed and minimising downtime. Accurately set up, secure, and align moulds to guarantee product quality and consistency. Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to resolve any issues during mould changeover, and ensure tools and parts are cleaned and stored properly after each change.

  • Address faults as they arise, accelerate significant issues to the appropriate personnel, and follow all safety and environmental protocols associated with plant operations.

  • Perform regular cleaning of equipment and machinery to maintain optimal performance and prevent build-up of dust, debris, or product residue.

  • Operate forklifts as required, provided the appropriate license is held.

  • Ensure that workplace cleanliness is maintained and adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols. Take personal responsibility for your own well-being and promptly report any concerns as required by company policy.

  • Proactively seek and suggest ideas for improvement—whether related to health and safety, business processes, or cost-saving measures—and report them as a ‘Good Catch’.

  • Any other duties as required by management that are within your capability. (You will also be required to perform Grade 1 tasks, such as quality control, strapping, and wrapping, whenever needed).

Required Criteria
  • Medically fit to undertake the physical requirements of the job.
  • Previous experience in routine and preventative maintenance programmes
  • Adherence and appreciation for H&S litigation and general housekeeping standards
  • Experience of effective communication to team members
  • Reliable.
  • Works well on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Minimum of 6 CGSE's Grade A-C
  • Ability to work quickly to meet production deadlines
  • Good time keeper
  • Flexible approach to work required, willingness to retrain and learn new skills
  • Available to respond to production problems outside normal hours
