Production Operative | Preston | Full Time | £13.04 or £13.65 per hour dependant on role + £1.80 per hour shift allowance + additional merit allowance after training
Our client is a leading manufacturer of moulded plastic products, operating across the vehicle, fire, and environmental safety markets. Supplying over 60 countries worldwide, they are a market leader in several European regions and continue to grow year on year, with a turnover of £22m. The Jonesco group employ around 175 employees both at their Preston Manufacturing and distribution site and at their subsidiary company Jonesco Sarl, based in Lille, France.
They are seeking Production Operatives to join their dedicated team in Preston. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are hands-on, reliable, and eager to work within a well-established, forward-thinking business.
Are you the right person for the job?
- Good manual handling skills and the ability to perform physical work
- Ability to do basic maths for stock counting purposes
- Awareness and application of health & safety working regulations
- Ability to work in environments where temperatures may exceed average levels
- Minimum of 2 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above, including Maths and English
- Ability to use hand tools
- Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern
- Excellent timekeeping and attendance
- Compliance with PPE and uniform standards
- Able to meet production targets and KPIs
- Always work safely in line with company and legislative requirements
- Record completed moulds accurately using standard paperwork
- Adhere to quality measures and company standards
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment or similar is desirable
What will your role look like?
- Decanting raw materials into moulding tools as per instructions
- Producing a range of plastic products using moulding machinery
- Recording of completed moulds using standard templates and procedures
- Following strict post-production processes such as cooling, forming, and trimming
- Using power tools such as drills to assemble and create finished products
- Producing kits to accompany products
- Maintaining good housekeeping to ensure a safe and tidy workspace
- Ensuring all products meet company quality standards
- Accurately recording production data
Working Hours & Pay:
- 39.5 hours per week
- Rotating 2-week shift pattern
- Week 1: Monday to Friday, 05:45 – 14:15
- Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 13:45 – 22:15 and Friday until 21:15
- £13.04 or £13.65 per hour (depending on the role)
- £1.80 per hour shift allowance for rotating shifts
- Additional merit allowance following successful completion of a 12-week training period
