Job summary

Permutable is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer in London to advance models from experimentation to production. You will work with our founder and engineers to shape architectures, evaluations and deployments in a modern AI-driven platform.

You’ll contribute to data preparation, model training and monitoring, helping the product evolve toward real‑time processing and robust workflows. The role blends hands-on ML with system design and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of professional AI/ML engineering experience or equivalent.
• Strong Python skills and software engineering fundamentals (maintainable code, testing, debugging, version control).
• Hands-on experience building, training or fine-tuning ML models and evaluating performance.
• Experience taking models or AI pipelines into production and maintaining reliability.
• Familiarity with MLOps practices including CI/CD, containerisation, automated testing and monitoring.
• A grounding in CS, engineering, ML, mathematics or related discipline.
• Curiosity and initiative with delivery responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Build production LLM pipelines covering data prep, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, deployment and monitoring.
• Improve model performance using Python and GPU infrastructure, balancing quality with latency and compute.
• Make evaluation part of development with repeatable tests and failure analysis.
• Orchestrate data and model workflows with Airflow, monitoring and failure recovery.
• Deploy and operate AI services on AWS, using Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3 and Redshift, with Docker and CI/CD.
• Take responsibility for deployment and production behavior with the team.
• Contribute to engineering decisions and practical approaches to next challenges.
