Qualifications

The role

As a Production Manager, you’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most exciting Marine Engineering programmes - Type 31 frigate build. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering one of the UK’s most ambitious naval programmes, driving performance and continuous improvement across the shipbuilding process. This is your opportunity to make a real impact on national defence, while growing your leadership skills and shaping the future of shipbuilding.

Day-to-day, you’ll lead and inspire teams to deliver complex packages of work safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

  • Leading and motivating frontline managers and operators to deliver production goals
  • Chairing daily planning meetings with stakeholders to align on priorities
  • Reviewing and adjusting build plans to meet delivery targets
  • Managing volumetric progress across the programme
  • Collaborating with subcontract managers to minimise downtime and drive efficiency

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at Rosyth, Fife.

Essential experience of the Production Manager
  • Proven knowledge of shipbuilding and outfitting methods
  • Ability to interpret mechanical, pipework, and shipbuilding drawings
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project scheduling
  • Experience using project reporting tools (e.g. SDE, CMS, IFS)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications for the Production Manager
  • Time-served trade background (essential)
  • ONC/HNC (preferred)
  • Recognised safety training (e.g. IOSH, Working at Height, Confined Space – Gold Passport standard preferred)
  • Health & Safety knowledge and practitioner certification (POWSA/POLSA)
