At Portsmouth Water, we’re passionate about delivering high-quality water to our communities every single day.

Due to growth in the team, we are looking for 3 dedicated and collaborative Production Maintenance Technicians to help care for and maintain our production assets.

This is a hands‑on role that blends technical expertise with teamwork, continuous learning, and meaningful impact across our water treatment and distribution networks.

You will work closely with the Production Technical Team Leader to ensure our operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently, helping to drive improvements that benefit both the business and the people we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of planned maintenance across key assets and ensure we’re working in line with schedules.
  • Carry out maintenance on instruments, low voltage switchgear, dosing equipment, pneumatic systems, valves, pumps, and motors.
  • Visit treatment works, pumping stations, and reservoirs supporting the operability and performance of our sites.
  • Monitor and gather asset performance data and record your work clearly and accurately.
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams with confidence and attention to detail.
  • Respond quickly and thoughtfully to equipment breakdowns, troubleshooting issues, sourcing spares, and repairing systems.
  • Ensure our equipment is maintained and calibrated to high standards, in line with audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members, operators, and departments sharing insights and exchanging vital information.
  • Maintain documentation to support internal processes and uphold compliance.
  • Keep a close eye on any external activities that may impact our water sources, reliability, or operational effectiveness.
  • Participate in out of hours standby duties.
Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
  • A recognised apprenticeship or skilled qualification in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities, and a flexible, can‑do attitude.
  • A collaborative mindset – someone who enjoys working with others and learning together.
  • A sense of accountability and a commitment to delivering work to a high standard.
  • A proactive, curious approach – open to learning new systems and technology.
  • A real passion for providing excellent service, whether to colleagues, customers, or communities.
  • GCSEs (A‑C / Level 4 or above) in English, Maths, and ideally a science subject.
  • Confidence using smartphones and computers in your daily work.
  • A full UK driving licence (you’ll also complete our internal driver assessment).
