Job summary

Permanent Futures Limited is seeking a Production Engineer to join a busy manufacturing environment in Leeds. You will work with machining, welding, fabrication and assembly teams to optimise processes, resolve technical challenges, and ensure products are manufactured safely and to quality standards.

You will review existing methods, produce manufacturing documentation, support new product introductions, and drive continuous improvement across production, quality and planning to maximise uptime

Qualifications

• Experience in traditional engineering/manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience creating or improving manufacturing documentation and work instructions.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.

Responsibilities

• Review and improve existing production processes across machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly areas.
• Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, routings, and process sheets.
• Support the smooth introduction of new products, methods, and process changes into production.
• Investigate production problems and implement practical, effective solutions.
• Work with shop floor teams to improve workflow, reduce downtime, and increase productivity.
• Assist with the development and implementation of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and production aids.
• Support continuous improvement activity across quality, cost, delivery, and safety.
• Liaise with internal departments to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
• Monitor production performance and recommend improvements where required.
• Ensure manufacturing processes are robust, repeatable, and aligned with customer and quality requirements.
