Job summary

Teledyne Reynolds Team at our Newbury facility designs, builds, and tests High Reliability Interconnect Solutions used in aerospace, defense, and space markets. The Production Engineer will own production processes, provide line-side support, and collaborate with Engineering for NPI and legacy product ranges to drive efficiency and quality.

The role emphasizes hands-on process control, multi-team communication, and leading capital projects as the company expands.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of production processes, tooling and test equipment in a cable harness manufacturing environment.
  • HNC/HND in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering is desired.
  • Proactive and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, Access, MRP systems; CAD drawing package experience.
  • Able to analyze issues with attention to detail and solve problems.
  • Good communication skills with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end manufacture and testing of high reliability interconnect products; document processes and procedures.
  • Ensure tooling, build aids and test equipment are available for orders on backlog.
  • Maintain production capital equipment in line with industry standards.
  • Raise and action change notes to keep records up to date.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote them to production staff.
  • Resolve production stops promptly and prevent recurrence.
  • Provide training on new processes and products to Operations team.
  • Assist Sales, Engineering and Purchasing with build times and component selection details.
  • Troubleshoot build and test issues with operators and test technicians.
  • Support TPM schedules site-wide and integrate with QA to maintain high yields.
  • Help Operations achieve OTD, PONC and revenue targets.

Job Description

At our Manufacturing facility in Newbury, Berkshire, the Teledyne Reynolds Team design, build and test custom High Reliability Interconnect Solutions to carry signals through some of the most advanced technologies on the planet, and even beyond. Our cable systems power aircraft cockpit technologies, avionics, and radars to aid pilots on their flight path and ensure both the safety of both them and their passengers. With the Semi-conductor market in higher demand than ever, our products which aid the inspection and quality assurance of the chips are advancing with new designs and test requirements.

Our Engineering and Operations teams have been directly involved in fulfilling sales orders and being hand’s on with products that are now roaming the surface of Mars, orbiting the Sun and launched to land on an asteroid orbiting through space. Due to high performance over recent years, we are now looking to expand our team as a result. With strong outlook in our Defence, Commercial and Space markets, We are focusing on new product development and products for future technology systems and are looking for a Production Engineer who has a working knowledge of production processes, tooling and test equipment in a cable harness manufacturing environment.

About the role:

The Production engineer will be an instrumental part of the Production and Operations team by taking ownership of our processes and internal procedures. The Teledyne Reynolds product portfolio is broad and interesting, covering prototype stages, full manufacture and test. You will provide line side support to the Production staff and be the main interface between them and the Engineering department for NPI and legacy product ranges. Reynolds are in a current stage of growth where direct headcount is increasing, new products are coming online and capital expenditure along with shop floor re-layouts will be key for success. The Production Engineer will be heavily involved in this process and lead projects to assist the company end goal.

Main responsibilities for this role will include:
  • Responsible for the process oversight of end-to-end manufacture of high reliability interconnect products. This will encompass production and test, with these processes being documented in specifications and procedures that are held within our systems

  • Ensure that all tooling, build aids and test equipment is designed and available for the orders on the backlog

  • Ensure that production capital equipment is in working order and is also kept in line with industry standard

  • Raise and action change notes in a timely manner to keep product records up to date and accurate

  • To support continuous improvement initiatives laid out by the company but also promote this to production staff and work with them and identify further gains

  • To be fully responsive to the manufacturing floor by ensuring that production stops are resolved in a proactive and timely manner but are then prevented from re-occurring

  • Provide training to the Operations team where required on new processes and products

  • To assist the Sales, Engineering and Purchasing departments with technical information on products with respect to build and lead times as well as component selection and specification

  • To troubleshoot issues with build and test of products, working with operators and test technicians to resolve them

  • Provide support and implementation of site wide TPM schedules

  • Integrate with the QA department to ensure that steps are followed in order to maintain high yield of product

  • Support the Operations manager in achieving the targeted figures in terms of OTD, PONC and revenue targets

The successful candidate will be able to satisfy the following requirements:
  • Have a working knowledge of production processes, tooling and test equipment in a cable harness manufacturing environment

  • HNC/HND in an Electronics or Mechanical Engineering discipline is desired

  • Must be proactive and resourceful while dealing with multiple tasks in succession

  • Must have a good working knowledge of Excel, Access, MRP systems and have experience of using a CAD based drawing package

  • Able to analyse and document issues with attention to detail, then use own initiative to solve and investigate problems approaching them with a can-do attitude

  • Must have good communication skills and be able to interface with internal and external customers as required
