Job summary

Talentedge in Greater London is seeking a Production Engineer to join a small, highly technical team. You’ll be responsible for the reliability, automation and ongoing improvement of our technology platforms.

This hands-on role spans infrastructure, software and production operations, with opportunities to build automation, improve deployment processes, troubleshoot complex issues and develop internal tools for the wider engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Production Engineering or DevOps/SRE experience in a similar role.
• Strong Python development and scripting skills.
• Strong Linux experience and production troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience with production environments and incident response.
• Good understanding of Git and software development practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience within proprietary trading or financial technology is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain Linux-based production environments.
• Develop Python automation, internal tools and data pipelines.
• Improve CI/CD processes and deployment tooling.
• Manage containerised workloads and production applications.
• Monitor systems and investigate production issues.
• Improve logging, alerting and observability.
• Lead incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Build automated data validation and reconciliation processes.
• Support integration of new systems and data sources.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
• Participate in an on-call rota when required.

Our client is a well-established proprietary trading firm with a strong engineering culture and a highly technical environment. They're looking for aProduction Engineer to join a small team responsible for the reliability, automation and ongoing improvement of their technology platforms.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working across infrastructure, software and production operations. You'll have the opportunity to build automation, improve deployment processes, troubleshoot complex issues and develop tools that make the wider engineering environment more efficient.

The Role

You'll have a broad range of responsibilities, including:

• Supporting and maintaining Linux-based production environments.
• Developing Python automation, internal tools and data pipelines.
• Improving CI/CD processes and deployment tooling.
• Managing containerised workloads and production applications.
• Monitoring systems and investigating production issues.
• Improving logging, alerting and observability.
• Leading incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
• Building automated data validation and reconciliation processes.
• Supporting the integration of new systems and data sources.
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation and runbooks.
• Participating in an on-call rota when required.
