Job summary

Siemens Healthineers Radiopharma is recruiting a Production Chemist to support radiopharmaceutical manufacture in a GMP environment. The role is based in Northwood (Mount Vernon Hospital) with a future move to Dunstable, and involves operating the cyclotron and maintaining cleanrooms to ensure safety and quality.

You will work a shift pattern including early, day, and night shifts, and contribute to audits, SOPs, and ongoing professional development in PET radiopharmaceutical production.

Qualifications

  • Experience in GMP pharmaceutical production environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in radiopharmaceutical production is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture radiopharmaceuticals in line with Marketing Authorisations and/or specials licences, ensuring compliance with PETNET Quality System and cGMP.
  • Clean and maintain cleanrooms and associated equipment.
  • Work to a shift pattern that includes weekends.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels of consumables.
  • Ship dangerous goods following ADR regulations.
  • Collaborate with PETNET colleagues to align processes and provide cross-site back-up.
  • Operate the cyclotron particle accelerator.
  • Support development of SOPs and site audits/inspections.

We are now recruiting a Production Chemist to support the manufacture of radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance in a regulated GMP environment.

The role will be based in Northwood (Mount Vernon Hospital) initially but will move to a new site in Dunstable in the future (expected in 2028).

The Role

As a Production Chemist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that radiopharmaceutical production, radiation compliance, Health & Safety, Good Manufacturing Practice, and licensing commitments are consistently met.

This is a shift‑based role, including Saturday and occasional Sunday work (40 hours/week)

Shifts
  • Early shift: 06:00–14:00
  • Day shift: 08:00–16:00 or 09:00–17:00
  • Night shift: 00:00–08:00
Your Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing radiopharmaceuticals in line with Marketing Authorisations and/or specials licences, ensuring full compliance with the PETNET Quality System and cGMP requirements
  • Cleaning and maintaining cleanrooms and associated equipment
  • Working to a shift pattern that includes weekends, in line with operational demand
  • Ensuring adequate stock levels of consumables
  • Shipping dangerous goods in accordance with ADR regulations
  • Collaborating with PETNET colleagues to ensure alignment of operational processes and effective backup across sites
  • Operating the cyclotron particle accelerator
  • Maintaining continuous professional development to stay current with legislation and scientific developments related to PET radiopharmaceutical production
  • Supporting the review and development of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Assisting with site preparation for audits and inspections
Your Expertise

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • An HND or higher qualification in a physical science or engineering discipline
  • Good communication skills, including experience in a customer‑facing role
  • Experience working within a GMP pharmaceutical production environment
