Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment is partnering with a UK manufacturer in Coleford to recruit a Manufacturing Planner / Buyer. You will own production scheduling across steel processing, welding, painting and finishing, ensuring materials are available and orders progress smoothly.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will monitor WIP, manage stock and build supplier relationships to support reliable delivery. The role offers a 4 day week and flexitime options.

Qualifications

• Experience in production planning, scheduling, material control or procurement within manufacturing.
• Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and drive process improvements.
• Good supplier relationship management and stock control skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage production schedules across steel processing, welding, painting, finishing and bracket manufacturing.
• Monitor work-in-progress, identify bottlenecks and adjust schedules to meet delivery requirements.
• Purchase steel and materials, raise purchase orders and monitor supplier performance.
• Manage stock levels, material availability and supplier lead times.
• Work closely with Production, Logistics and Administration teams.
• Develop planning processes and reporting to improve operational efficiency.
• Monday to Friday, with the option for flexitime or compressed hours.
• 20 days’ holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday off.

Are you a Production Coordinator, Materials Planner or Buyer from a manufacturing background, looking for a newly created role where you can take ownership of production scheduling and purchasing?

Do you want to join an established British manufacturer offering flexibility around working hours and the opportunity to develop processes and influence operational performance?

This established manufacturer has over 100 years of engineering expertise, providing a complete service covering the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of specialist exterior lighting infrastructure. Supplying sectors including highways, airports, ports, telecommunications and sports, the business delivers projects across the UK and internationally.

They are looking for a Manufacturing Planner / Buyer to oversee production planning and material procurement at their Coleford manufacturing site. Reporting to the General Manager, you will coordinate schedules across steel processing, welding, painting and finishing, ensuring materials are available and customer orders progress efficiently through production.

You will monitor work-in-progress, resolve scheduling conflicts and adjust plans to accommodate changing priorities. Alongside this, you will purchase steel and other materials, manage stock levels and build supplier relationships to support reliable delivery. As this is a new role, you will have the opportunity to establish planning procedures and improve how information is shared across the business.

This role would suit someone with experience in manufacturing planning, material control or purchasing who enjoys coordinating multiple priorities and wants the autonomy to shape a new position within an established business.
