Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Safety professional to join the Systems and Product Integrity team in the UK. You will help implement a centralized PSMS across RTX UK, engaging with many stakeholders and driving a strong Product Safety Culture.

You will contribute to PSMS strategy, policy creation, and governance while supporting risk management and regulatory compliance across multiple program areas.

Qualifications

• Experience in a highly regulated industry (Defence, Aviation, Nuclear, Building etc).
• Risk management experience in a Safety context.
• Standards/regulatory framework experience and auditing exposure.

Responsibilities

• Deputise for Head of Product Safety Management System.
• Create, maintain and improve PSMS strategy, policy, processes and manuals.
• Manage stakeholders interfacing with the PSMS.
• Oversee Product Safety risk management activities and promote a positive culture.
• Lead safety risk reviews as a standing member across business areas.
• Support Occurrence Reporting system and guide ORMs for containment actions.
• Conduct safety investigations and contribute to lessons learned.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Safety professional to work as part of the Systems and Product Integrity (S&PI) team supporting a broad range of Raytheon Products. The role will report to the Head of Product Safety Management System. The S&PI Team sits within the engineering function and supports mission areas across the company. The role will support the Head of Product Safety Management System in the implementation of a centralised Raytheon UK wide Product Safety Management System (PSMS) over the next 18 months. You will work with multiple stakeholders across multiple product areas driving a positive Product Safety Culture. You will support the production of PSMS strategy, produce policy, write processes and produce manuals to support the PSMS and regulatory approvals. You support the RUK Occurrence Reporting system and maintain oversight of the reports and actions. You will continually improve the PSMS, ensuring its effectiveness.

Skills and Experience

• Previously worked within a Safety team and regulatory framework
• Experience of working in a highly regulated industry (Defence, Aviation, Nuclear, Building etc)
• Experience of working within Defence Programmes
• Risk Management experience in a Safety context
• Stakeholder Management
• Understanding of Safety Culture and supporting implementation
• Proficient in MS office
• Experience in implementing new software systems

• Member of a recognised professional body
• Previous auditor experience in a quality role
• Experience of working with defence and industry regulators

Responsibilities

• Deputise for Head of Product Safety Management System
• Creation, maintenance and continual improvement of the PSMS strategy, policy, processes, procedures and manual(s).
• Manage Stakeholders (internal and external) that interface with the PSMS.
• Oversight of Product Safety Risk Management activities within the scope of the PSMS and promoting RUK’s positive and engaged Product Safety Culture.
• Standing member of all Business Area Product Safety risk reviews. Providing specialist advice, collective knowledge and lessons learnt.
• Supporting the Occurrence Reporting system and being a key member in leading ORMs to ensure risks are identified and suitable containment and preventive actions are determined
• Undertake safety investigations looking into contributory and causal factors of occurrences.
• Produce Product Safety promotion materials.
• Provide advice and support to business areas during Safety Risk Management activities, monitoring safety risk registers and Safety Risk Management Systems to identify and advise where circumstances may have changed and risks may no longer be ALARP or Tolerable.
• Be a key member of the Product Safety Action Group (PSAG) developing essential inputs and driving actions to continually improve the PSMS.
• Be a key member of the Product Safety Executive Board (PSEB) developing essential inputs and driving actions to continually improve the PSMS.
