Description

We are looking for an experienced Product Owner who is passionate about building products that customers love and will take full accountability for the discovery, definition, delivery and performance of products and services in the Payments portfolio.

You will be responsible for understanding and meeting the needs of your users and driving the successful execution of software delivery to deliver user value and commercial success.

Through creative thinking, an evidence-based approach, ruthless prioritisation and a keen focus on user and business value; you will create buy-in for the product development internally and externally, working effectively with your Agile delivery teams and wider business stakeholders.

To do this, you’ll build a deep understanding of the users of your products.

We are looking for a strong all-rounder who has experience as a storyteller, customer requirement gathering, technical liaison, user experience development, data analytics and service readiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Product Manager to translate the product vision into clear, achievable and value-driven goals for the team.
  • Maximise product value by understanding customer, market and business needs and ensuring these are reflected throughout development.
  • Gather, analyse and communicate requirements using techniques such as user journey mapping, process mapping, use cases and user story mapping.
  • Translate customer requirements, business objectives and technical solutions into clear, detailed and actionable user stories.
  • Own and manage the team backlog, ensuring priorities are understood, appropriately estimated, up to date and aligned with delivery timescales.
  • Collaborate effectively with development and cross-functional teams to communicate product requirements, support decision-making and drive successful delivery.
  • Identify and manage product delivery risks alongside the Delivery Manager, resolving or mitigating issues wherever possible.
  • Define product success measures, monitor performance and user behaviour, and use insights to support continuous improvement and optimisation.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle from initial requirements and development through to delivery, compliance, optimisation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, manage expectations and support organisational readiness for new products through education, communication and product information.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer and market needs, championing these throughout product development and delivery.
  • Demonstrate experience in opportunity, problem and solution discovery, with a strong understanding of user experience and customer-focused product design.
  • Develop commercially valuable products that meet user needs and contribute to positive customer and business outcomes.
  • Effectively plan, prioritise and manage product feature backlogs while contributing to the development and evolution of the product roadmap.
  • Analyse product, user and financial data using business intelligence tools to support informed product decisions.
  • Influence and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Service and Customer Success, with strong presentation, organisational and time management skills.
  • Work effectively within an agile product development environment, using approaches such as hypothesis development, prototyping, usability testing and customer feedback to continually improve products.
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant legal and compliance requirements, including GDPR, with experience in EdTech and payment solutions considered desirable.
