EC Markets UK is building a mobile-first trading platform for UK retail customers. We are seeking the first product function hire to translate vision into features, user stories and acceptance criteria for engineering and design.

You will own the backlog, run refinement and be involved in details daily. This role lays the foundation for a product career as the team grows alongside the platform.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in an agile delivery team as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or similar role.
• Proven ability to write clear user stories and acceptance criteria (Given/When/Then).
• Hands-on Scrum or Kanban experience; have run ceremonies.
• Strong knowledge of Jira and Confluence; comfortable with whiteboarding in Miro or FigJam.
• Strong academic record or equivalent evidence of fast learning.
• Commercial awareness and a customer-first, data-led mindset.
• Willingness to challenge constructively and be challenged.
• Experience in fintech, trading, investing or other regulated industries; mobile apps.
• Familiarity with product analytics tools (PostHog, Metabase) or basic SQL.
• PSPO or CSPO certification is useful, not required.

• Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning and sprint reviews with engineering and design.
• Turn complex ideas into clear user flows, process maps and diagrams using Miro, Confluence and similar tools.
• Work with compliance, risk, operations, dealing, marketing and customer service to capture requirements early.
• Challenge assumptions, including those of senior leadership, using customer insight, data and commercial reasoning.
• Use product analytics and customer feedback to measure what we ship and shape what comes next.
• Help define how product works here: templates, Definition of Ready and Done, documentation standards.

EC Markets UK is an FCA-regulated broker building a mobile-first trading and investing platform for UK retail customers. We combine in-house engineering with specialist partners to give customers access to global markets, with market intelligence, AI-assisted analysis and education built in. We are early in the journey and building for the long term.

The role

You will be the first hire in our product function. You will take the high-level vision and turn it into features, user stories and acceptance criteria that our engineering and design teams can build from first time.

This is a hands-on role. You will own the backlog, run refinement and be in the detail every day. For the right person, it is the foundation of a product career: the team will grow as the platform does, and so will your scope.

What you will bring

• [2+] years in an agile delivery team as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or similar role
• A track record of writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria (for example Given/When/Then) that engineers build without rework
• Hands-on Scrum or Kanban experience: you have run the ceremonies, not just attended them
• Strong working knowledge of Jira and Confluence, plus a whiteboarding tool such as Miro or FigJam
• A strong academic record or equivalent evidence that you learn fast
• Commercial awareness and a customer-first, data-led mindset
• The confidence to challenge constructively, and the openness to be challenged
• Experience in fintech, trading, investing, payments or another regulated industry
• Experience on mobile app products
• Familiarity with product analytics tools (PostHog, Metabase or similar) or basic SQL
• A Product Owner certification (PSPO or CSPO): useful, not required
• Be first in and shape how product works at EC Markets from day one
• Work directly with the MD and senior leadership team
• Be part of something big: an industry challenger, built from inception
• A clear path into broader product roles as the team scales
