What the job involves

Product Marketing Manager

The Product Marketing Manager position at Smart Communications is responsible for managing the product marketing strategy, supporting the product roadmap and feature definition, and driving the market packaging, positioning and messaging of the Smart Communications Product lines, creating value and measurable business benefits for customers and for Smart Communications. The Product Marketing Manager has expertise in both marketing and product, allowing him/her to play a strategic yet hands‑on and collaborative role that directly interacts with external and internal stakeholders including customers/prospects, analysts, marketing, sales and pre‑sales, research and development, product management, customer success, and senior leadership.

The Product Marketing Manager is an outstanding listener, dynamic communicator, demonstrated leader, strong writer and executor and an effective negotiator skilled in working with peers to develop a team approach to collaboratively identify and document business challenges and then create solutions that deliver innovation, differentiation, and exceptional customer experiences.

This role is remote with the expectation of occasional visits to our London offices in Covent Garden.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Collaboratively create and manage the company-level product marketing strategy.
  • Evaluate and establish program priorities in line with the business objectives.
  • Develop compelling content and points of view that reinforce our product differentiators and angles for innovation, as well as our key integrations (and points‑of‑difference) with alliance partners. Deliverables to include website pages relating to each product and relevant use cases, packaged product sheets, videos, presentations, case studies, white papers, press releases, and sales enablement tools (templates, demos, demo assets, scripts, talking points).
  • Lead planning around multi‑year product roadmap, packaging and competitive positioning.
  • Manage a continous delivery product release cycle along with milestone release strategies ensuring that internally and externally, we reinforce key points of difference to articulate growing value of solutions, underscore new features and capabilities, and grow adoption among existing customers via platform and product‑level assets to support conversations.
  • Drive establishment of strategic marketing plans for the product line.
  • Drive focus around differentiation of our SaaS product offerings.
  • Compile intelligence with respect to our products, our markets and our competition.
  • Create and continuously manage a detailed SWOT analysis to be used to further define and develop our solutions and approach to product packaging.
  • Evaluate current market share and continuously maintain competitor profiles and performance.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities and emerging technology opportunities.
  • Serve as an evangelist and public face to communicate product strategy, innovation and vision which is aligned to our long‑term goals with customers, the press, market analysts, strategic partners, and other industry leaders.
  • Contribute to the analyst strategy (as managed by the Analyst Engagement team) by articulating and enabling awareness of our products and its differentiators with this critical community via the development and delivery of materials for briefings, submissions, events, and content.
  • Some domestic / international travel <15%.
Must have skills/experience
  • 3+ years of experience in product or industry marketing with a technology‑related organization.
  • Experience with marketing and enabling B2B software.
  • An exceptional storyteller and able to convert complex technical information into value propositions that resonate with our target audiences.
  • Exceptional and demonstrable writing, presentation and public‑speaking skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with integrating technologies together to support marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent project management, critical thinking, and organizational skills with the ability to work across a distributed, global company in order to meet obligations.
  • Proficiency in digital and content marketing campaign design and buyer journeys; understanding of digital marketing ecosystem.
  • A strong sense of ownership, leadership and a determination to succeed.
  • Bachelor’s degree (required) or higher.
  • Experience marketing enterprise software in regulated industries including Financial Services, Insurance, Healthcare, Government, Telco and Public Sector.
  • Experience marketing or familiarity with Customer Communications Management, Forms Automation, Digital Communications or CPaaS solutions.
