Reporting to: Category Marketing Manager (Pain)

Location: Walton Oaks / Leatherhead (2-3 days per week in office)

Business Unit: Companion Animal

Managed resources: 0 FTE

Budget responsibility: Assigned A&P budget (aligned to category plan)

Job purpose

The Product Manager is accountable for translating the Category Marketing strategy into clear annual brand plans and delivering high-quality execution across the Pain portfolio. The role leads the end-to-end marketing mix (positioning, messaging, campaigns, omnichannel activation, tools/services, pricing inputs and forecasting) and works cross-functionally with Sales, Technical, Veterinary, Commercial Operations and Key Accounts to drive sustainable growth and profitability.

Core responsibilities

Strategy & market planning

  • In partnership with the Marketing Manager, contribute market insight to shape short- and long-term category strategy and brand vision, aligned to global priorities and the Zoetis planning framework.
  • Lead the annual marketing planning workstream for the portfolio (objectives, segmentation/targeting, positioning, messaging, channel strategy, KPI framework, timelines and A&P plan).
  • Develop and maintain high-quality market understanding (customers, competition, pricing, seasonality, trends) using market data, customer visits, field feedback, research and external sources; translate insight into recommendations and actions.
  • Support the Marketing Manager with monthly, quarterly and annual forecasting inputs, including risks/opportunities, scenario planning and assumptions.

Financial management, forecasting, pricing & supply planning

  • Own day-to-day management of the assigned A&P budget for the portfolio: track spend, forecast, manage agency/vendor costs, and demonstrate impact through ROI/learning reviews.
  • Work closely with Demand Planning to develop and continuously refine inventory forecasts; contribute to forecast meetings and actions to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Provide pricing and promotional recommendations in collaboration with the Marketing Manager, Business Unit and Commercial Operations leaders to maximise value, share and profitability (including consideration of value-based pricing and market conditions).

Marketing campaigns & demand creation

  • Lead development and delivery of customer-centric campaigns across the portfolio that drive awareness, consideration and prescribing/ordering behaviours, balancing short-term performance with long-term brand health.
  • Create promotional messaging and content that is clear, compliant and easily translatable into the Solution Selling model for the field force.
  • Plan and deliver omnichannel engagement (face-to-face enablement, email, web, e-commerce, CPD/education platforms, events, PR and partnerships as appropriate).
  • Define KPIs for campaigns (reach, engagement, conversion, sales outcomes), track performance, and optimise based on evidence and learning cycles.

Key accounts & strategic partnerships

  • Co-create commercial and marketing plans for priority accounts with the Key Account team; align activity to account plans and deliverables.
  • Build credible, value-adding relationships with customer stakeholders (including practice groups) through regular visits and insight-led conversations.

Cross-functional leadership & ways of working

  • Lead cross-functional project teams for the portfolio (Sales, Technical, Veterinary, L&D, Digital, Supply, Finance) to ensure alignment, quality delivery and timely execution.
  • Build strong working relationships with Area Business Managers and Inside Sales to enable confident field activation; incorporate their feedback into plan optimisation.
  • Engage with Global marketing and the European Centre of Excellence to share best practice, align lifecycle timing and leverage available assets (e.g., Vault), adapting appropriately for the UK market.

Compliance & quality

  • Maintain high standards of business conduct and compliance, adhering to Zoetis policies and local codes of practice.
  • Ensure all materials, claims, channels and activities comply with Pharmacovigilance requirements and are accurately documented.
  • Manage suppliers/partners responsibly, ensuring appropriate approvals, contracts, and financial controls.

Key skills

  • Customer and market insight: strong understanding of the veterinary practice environment; ability to turn insight into actionable plans.
  • Commercial and financial acumen: confident in A&P management, ROI thinking, forecasting and pricing inputs.
  • Analytical capability: comfortable working with market data and performance metrics to drive decisions.
  • Campaign execution excellence: strong project management, attention to detail, and ability to deliver through cross-functional teams.
  • Digital and omnichannel capability: experience building customer journeys, lead generation and conversion in a B2B context (and where relevant DTC/DTO activation).
  • Influencing and communication: clear written, verbal and presentation skills; able to align stakeholders without formal authority.

Behaviours

  • Our colleagues make the difference: practise and role model ongoing learning; seek feedback and build capability in others through collaboration.
  • Always do the right thing: be clear, open and true to our products; ensure balanced, accurate and compliant communication.
