Mott MacDonald’s support services are the driving force behind our organisation, enabling us to run efficiently and effectively. The Central Digital team supports business units across the UK, Europe and Middle East to leverage digital to win more work and deliver projects more efficiently.

Overview of the role

Join a team shaping the future of infrastructure through cutting-edge digital solutions. As a Product Manager within the Central Digital team, you will be a key member of our product teams, developing products and product extensions that solve infrastructure industry challenges for clients across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. You will work with colleagues across Mott MacDonald to translate knowledge, processes and methods into digital solutions that add value for clients and deliver return on investment to the business.

You will help ensure our solutions meet business and client requirements and are developed and managed according to product management best practices. You will lead the development of product strategies and roadmaps and leverage best-practice approaches and tools as part of our Product Lifecycle Management Framework.

You will gather user, functional and non-functional requirements to inform the product roadmap and interface with project teams to scale deployment and improve user adoption and satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Produce product strategies and roadmaps for portfolio solutions to meet business needs.
  • Monitor product health indicators to grow user numbers and enhance user experience.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and capture user stories for prioritisation in development sprints.
  • Adhere to and contribute to the Product Lifecycle Management framework for the portfolio.
  • Ensure ongoing quality and continuous improvement within product visions, strategies and roadmaps aligned to organisational goals.
  • Support colleagues in communicating the value proposition of each solution and the combined suite.
  • Manage delivery processes as solutions are deployed to multiple projects and evolve these processes as solutions mature and scale to hundreds of live deployments.
Additional responsibilities
  • Translate business and user needs into product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Incorporate data, research and market analysis to inform product decisions.
  • Advocate use of product discovery techniques (rapid prototypes, wireframes, mock-ups, A/B tests).
  • Define success metrics and ensure feedback from customers and users is acted upon.
  • Work with the Product Lead to agree timelines, deadlines and release plans for new features.
  • Support initiatives to increase product awareness, adoption and usage (e.g., case studies, guides, content).
  • Share product management best practices across the team.
Candidate specification

Essential:

  • Three+ years of experience as a product manager in cloud computing or equivalent customer-facing role.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, e.g., managing a scrum team and owning the product/sprint backlog.
  • Strong presentation skills with comfort speaking to executives, domain experts and software engineers.
  • Excellent analytical, planning, organisational and technical skills.
  • University degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong communication skills to explain the rationale behind product strategies and development decisions.
  • Experience developing product strategies and roadmaps.

Desirable:

  • Product management certification or equivalent.
  • Experience introducing software-as-a-service solutions to the engineering, construction and infrastructure industry.
  • Experience working with offshore software development or engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of user research / user experience methodologies and translating those into features.
  • Knowledge of technology solutions and ability to learn emerging technologies in Cloud/IT.
  • Knowledge of the infrastructure / construction industry (water, energy, transport, buildings, defence and security).
