Job description

Product Manager

The CCDC is looking for a Product Manager to help shape the future of our scientific software, data, and services, enabling researchers worldwide to address complex challenges in structural chemistry, materials science, and drug discovery.

This is an opportunity for you to contribute to the advancement of science in a meaningful way by defining and delivering products that enable data and knowledge from our comprehensive database of 3D chemical crystal structures to be exploited in academic research and across a wide range of industries.

Working within our Product Management team, you will be responsible for the success of one or more product areas within the CCDC portfolio. You will define product vision, strategy, and roadmaps, working closely with scientists, software developers, Product Owners, and stakeholders across the organisation to deliver valuable, user-centred solutions that support CCDC's mission.

You may already have several years' experience managing software products or platforms in a commercial, scientific, or technical environment. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of product management principles, a passion for understanding customer needs, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery. You will be comfortable making informed decisions, influencing without direct authority, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

You will have experience working with agile delivery teams and translating product strategy into actionable plans and priorities. You will be confident defining long-term roadmaps, assessing business value, managing competing priorities, and driving successful product outcomes through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Experience launching or delivering new products or services is essential.

A qualification in a scientific discipline, including computer science, or equivalent experience is required, alongside formal training or certification in product management or agile methodologies. Experience working with products used by the scientific research or discovery community would be advantageous but is not essential.

The successful candidate will be passionate about creating exceptional user experiences and helping customers achieve their goals. You will enjoy working in a collaborative environment, be comfortable operating across strategic and operational levels, and be motivated by the opportunity to make a lasting impact within a purpose-driven scientific organisation.

Please take a look at the CCDC website to see how this is an opportunity for you to contribute to the advancement of global structural science.
