Job description

Location: London, N/A

A UK-based, YC-backed health-AI company ~ $25M ARR on about forty people, doubling every year, cash-flow positive is building its engineering cohort in Canada. Its platform already serves millions of patients across a national health system; the long-term mission is personalized medicine. There are three engineers in Canada today. You'd be among the next five or six, with a possible Toronto hub to follow.

HOW THIS TEAM BUILDS
  • Spec-first, AI-native- Engineers think in architecture and specifications; an internal agent framework orchestrates coding agents around the clock to execute against those specs. Your leverage is your thinking, multiplied by agents — fluency with agentic development is a real part of the job, not a buzzword.
  • You own problems end to end - No wall between product and engineering. You'll talk to the problem, decompose it, spec it, ship it, and live with the results. Leadership deliberately stays at the project level and pushes decisions down.
  • Autonomy against outcomes - Each week you set what you'll ship, then you're trusted to ship it. No presenteeism, no hours-watching — and honestly, a team that works hard because they'd rather be building this than anything else.
  • Modern serverless web platform - TypeScript end to end, React (plus some Angular and Electron), fully serverless AWS backend (Lambda, DynamoDB, AppSync GraphQL), strong test coverage and CI/CD, minimal ops.
WHO GETS HIRED HERE

The team hires at every level; recent grads with exceptional trajectories through staff engineers against one bar, not a years-of-experience filter:

  • You've built things of your own accord — and finished them. A product with real users, a side project that hit the front page somewhere, a game, a robot, open source that people use. What matters is that you took an ambiguous idea, chased it to done, and it worked in the real world.
  • Evidence of raw horsepower. Strong CS fundamentals and first-principles thinking, demonstrated through what you've built rather than where or what you studied in school
  • Full-stack product instincts, web-first. Deep in the TypeScript/Node ecosystem, comfortable moving between frontend and backend, obsessive about the user's experience over arbitrary technical goals.
  • Real, current AI-assisted workflow. You direct agents day to day and can talk concretely about what you spec, what they execute, and what broke.
  • Earnest, low-ego, good to work with. The team screens as hard for character as for IQ.
