Job description

Endava is looking for an experienced hands‑on Product Director to lead the product portfolio for our next‑generation Payment Gateway Accelerator. This is a high‑impact role for a product leader who thrives on turning strategy into execution and enjoys staying close to technology delivery and clients.

You’ll act as the proxy to the CPO shaping the roadmap across 810 interconnected domains (including Core Payments Checkout POS & TMS Settlement and Onboarding).

The role offers a unique opportunity to partner directly with our delivery engineering and commercial teams to build one of the most ambitious gateway platforms in the market.

It’s ideally suited to a Senior Product Manager ready to step up or a Product Director who prefers to stay hands‑on rather than purely strategic.

Key Responsibilities
Product Portfolio Leadership
  • Own the end‑to‑end product portfolio governance across domains such as Core Payments Checkout POS & TMS Settlement and Onboarding.
  • Translate CPOs strategic vision into clear roadmaps, OKRs and delivery guardrails.
  • Chair the cross‑functional product council ensuring alignment between compliance, engineering, commercial and operations.
  • Drive cross‑domain prioritization, dependency management and delivery sequencing to maximise portfolio impact.
Team Leadership & Enablement
  • Lead, mentor and coach Product Managers and Product Owners across multiple domains.
  • Provide frameworks and context to help teams make informed trade‑offs and maintain strategic alignment.
  • Embed modern product operating models, Agile discipline and SDLC best practices across squads.
  • Champion continuous learning and the professional growth of the product team.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for prioritisation conflicts and trade‑off decisions.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders (internal and client‑side) ensuring transparency and alignment across functions.
  • Deliver executive‑level portfolio updates, status reports and risk assessments to governance forums.
Commercial & Pre‑Sales Support
  • Partner with the commercial and client engagement teams to support pre‑sales discussions and RFP responses.
  • Shape value propositions around modular adoption, time‑to‑market acceleration and client differentiation.
  • Contribute to go‑to‑market positioning of the Gateway Accelerator as a core product offering.
Governance & Risk
  • Ensure alignment with key industry and regulatory frameworks including PCI DSS, PSD3, AML, ISO 20022 and related scheme requirements.
  • Apply risk management and decision‑making frameworks to drive accountability and transparency throughout the product lifecycle.
Qualifications : Experience
  • 10 years in product leadership roles within payments, fintech or financial software companies.
  • Proven ability to scale complex regulated platforms or payment systems end‑to‑end.
  • Experience operating as a CPO proxy or senior product leader across cross‑functional matrixed organisations.
  • Strong grounding in Agile delivery and SDLC processes with a practical hands‑on approach to execution.
  • Familiarity with modular enterprise architectures and platform evolution strategy.
Knowledge
  • Deep understanding of modern payments ecosystems including eCommerce, POS, APMs, wallets, reconciliation, onboarding and fraud.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g. PCI DSS, PSD2/PSD3, AML/KYC, ISO 20022).
Skills
  • Hands‑on leadership style equally comfortable in portfolio reviews or sprint planning.
  • Strategic thinker with an execution bias you can move from vision to delivery with speed and clarity.
  • Exceptional stakeholder and communication skills with confidence navigating ambiguity.
  • Collaborative, empathetic and capable of leading distributed product teams across geographies.
  • Able to influence technical and commercial discussions while keeping focus on business value.
  • Experience guiding distributed product teams across geographies.
Desirable
  • Experience in both vendor‑side and client‑side delivery environments.
  • Exposure to enterprise gateway, PSP or acquiring platforms.
