A globally recognised high volume manufacturer are currently looking to strengthen their Engineering department with the appointment of a Product Development Engineer.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on product development and wants to be involved throughout the full product lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to testing, compliance and production.
We are looking for a practical and analytical engineer with a strong interest in product development and hands-on engineering.
Working from their manufacturing facility in Warwickshire, the Product Development Engineer will be responsible for:
- Developing gas, electrical and combined-fuel systems for domestic appliances.
- Work across a broad range of gas, electrical and combination-fuel products.
- Translate marketing briefs and customer requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions.
- Create and deliver comprehensive product test plans.
- Set up, monitor and manage compliance testing.
- Prepare products and technical documentation for submission to external test and approval authorities.
- Maintain internal design verification and testing methods in line with current standards.
- Analyse test results and use findings to support engineering and design decisions.
- Produce detailed technical test reports and presentations.
- Identify, assess and manage product risks.
- Support sales and customer demonstrations through technical presentations and working samples.
- Benchmark existing products against competitors.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, particularly around reducing test and development time.
- Lead internal engineering projects, managing timelines, deliverables and stakeholder requirements.
- Work collaboratively with Design, Process Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, Quality and Marketing teams.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation, regulations and appliance standards across international markets.
You will ideally have:
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline, or relevant industry experience.
- Experience or working knowledge of electrical and/or gas systems, ideally within domestic appliances.
- Experience in product testing, development, verification or compliance.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to analyse and interpret engineering and test data.
- Experience reading electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Excellent communication and technical report-writing skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- The ability to manage your own workload and work to project and test plans.
- A proactive, flexible and self-motivated approach.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
